Sony has entered a partnership with toy making company Spin Master, which is promising a range of PlayStation-based mechandise. Popular properties like God of War, Uncharted, The Last of Us, and Horizon are all being targeted, with action figures, collectibles, playsets, plushes, puzzles, and more in the pipeline.
Spin Master has been around since the 1990s, and these days it primarily deals in making toys based on children's TV shows, like PAW Patrol, Bakugan, and Dragons. It's fair to say that the Canadian-based company is looking to expand its portfolio.
"We are committed to creating the highest quality gameplay experiences for our community of global fans and finding new ways to bring our most beloved characters to new audiences. Working along with Spin Master, we are excited to continue our reach in presenting our gaming IP through authentic and innovative toys and games to our passionate PlayStation community around the world," says Sony's Grace Chen.
Of course, this deal fits neatly with Sony's continued push to make PlayStation a brand that goes beyond video games. A major focus is transforming its biggest properties into household names, whether it's through TV adaptations or merchandising partnerships like this.
Would you be interested in more PlayStation products, like figures and plushes? Pose Kratos in the comments section below.
I just want the axe.
Some Ratchet & Clank please
Astro people bring us Astro these little critters are made for something like this.
"Get the new Abbie figure set now, complete with Clickers, real bat swinging action! Joel head parts sold separately via blind bags."
Ooh, I got a portion of his left forehead!
I'd love some figures of the 1st party characters to sit along my bookcases especially Aloy and Kratos.
I don't usually go for this sort of thing but if I ever get an awesome Sly Cooper statue from this partnership? I might bite.
If Astro Bot isn't in there, we riot
@Haruki_NLI mmmmm. collect the whole set!
Great. Even more cool stuff to spend my money on.
I love consooming!
This announcement has the feel of something... familiar. Can't put my finger on it.
Figures of Jin, Yuna and Masako from Ghost, Some of Sly and co and some of Talanah & Aloy from Horizon please 🙏🙏🙏
@Korgon YES!!! Seriously Sly need more goddamn merch
I’m just hoping they make a clicker figurine 🤞
More plastic junk for the world to sink in... the games alone will do just fine.
I would definitely want to get some merchandise from my favourite PlayStation games
I would agree wholeheartedly, but I think that franchise may already be licensed out. At least for the figures.
In the words of Queen, I want it all. I also want to break free, but that's for an unrelated reason.
Ugh spinmaster ,really ? Could they not have given the license to neca ffs, even mcfarlane could've done a better job,so we're gonna get kratos with the likeness of mr tumble ,smashing.
Horizon Action Figures? Hell yeah!
Not interested in toys. We have a premium option with Prime 1 statues which look great, Gaming Heads which look mediocre (seriously PlayStation should revok all its licenses from them or push them hard to make better statues) and these are available worldwide. Would love to see more mid-range statues (1/6 scale). I know Dark Horse Direct made few really good looking but with better availability outside US.
I would love a Sly Cooper plushie, a year ago I was collecting all sorts of collectibles from PlayStation and Nintendo but have stopped because I ran out of room, but for a Sly Cooper plushie I would make an exception.
As 1/6 scale figure collector, I hoped Sony would allow brands like Hot Toys to make some killer 1/6 scale figures of the PS characters. There are several gaming figures out from various brands, from 1st to 3rd party, so there is definitely a market out there
Helghast body pillows FTW!
I bought mine through this store, and the craftsmanship is going to be 200% better than whatever garbage Sony or any of their partners put out.
@Dpishere That would be amazing I know Stubbins made an adorable Sly plushie once but he's out of print now and LUDICROUSLY expensive to obtain
@tameshiyaku Speak for yourself most of us love stuff like this
@Keyblade-Dan Yeah I bought my brother that plush for his birthday and now I really wish I would have gotten one for myself because yeah they are expensive now.
If they were detailed enough and affordable, I'd be tempted to get Drake, Elena and Sully figures for my Uncharted nerd shelf. Time will tell.
N.i.c.e. a kratos the g.o.a.t. 🐐 👑 action figure is welcome.word up son
I'm all for it. I've been wanting a proper Aloy figure to go along with my Kratos and Spidey statues for a while, but they don't really exist beyond the small one that came with the Regalla Edition of Forbidden West. As long as they aren't ridiculously expensive of course, which is why I don't really own many since Collector's Editions now are insane and so are proper figures for games like Final Fantasy.
@AverageGamer what an excellent site. You're absolutely right. THIS is the real deal. Can't thank you enough!
Of course these mentioned properties has to be from their same Oscar bait games and not fun and lighthearted games like R&C
@naruball You're welcome! Ancient smithy does excellent work, and I couldn't have been more happier with my purchase.
Even though I failed to get a purchase in for a Ragnarok collectors edition. I'm hoping they eventually make a replica for that hammer as well.
@Dpishere @Keyblade-Dan @Korgon @Flaming_Kaiser @Voltan I would love to own some Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, and Astro Bot toys and plushies!
Spyro and Crash would also be cool, but I realize they are owned by Activision now, not Naughty Dog or Insomniac.
@KidBoruto Probably if we want one in the future its with a Xbox label on it with Crash and Spyro.
@KilloWertz The original CE from HZD had quite a big statue with it.
@Flaming_Kaiser True, but in that case I wasn't a big fan of Horizon yet since it was a new IP, so I just went with the basic version. Not criticizing you or anything. Just saying. If they had done the same with Forbidden West, I would have bought it in a heartbeat.
@Flaming_Kaiser As long as the Xbox branding isn't on the plushies themselves, I'd be okay with that!
I like to both play and sleep with my plushies, so I usually don't bother keeping them in their packaging.
@KilloWertz I just wanted to say that statue maybe on sale on Ebay.
