Fall Guys racked up 20 million players within the first 48 hours of its free-to-play release last week. The total covers all platforms the game is playable on, including PlayStation, Xbox, PC, mobile phones, and a new Nintendo Switch edition.
Team Mediatonic revealed the news on Twitter and invited even more players to check out the game this past weekend, meaning the player base has only grown since the announcement in question. The game has been massively expanded since its original launch on PS Plus, with lots of new events on offer.
We recently published our Fall Guys PS5 review, and found the updated title to still be a "blast" despite the increased focus on microtransactions. Crowns are no longer used to buy premium cosmetics; instead, you'll need to purchase Show-Bucks. "The free Fame Pass is still there, but it's supplemented with a premium tier, which is really the only way to earn Show-Bucks without simply buying them," we explained.

They were smart not to release it free to play from the beginning, now they are exploding in popularity once again
It's a fun game in small bursts, albeit chaotic at times. Congrats to the developers for the continued success.
They definitely need more default costumes from the start, however, because every single new player looks exactly the same, leaving the screen in a pinkish blur. Although, perhaps that's done intentionally to get the new players to buy those show bucks for an instant costume upgrade.
I'm 1 of the 20 million. I went into it with pretty low expectations but in fairness I'm really enjoying it.
Just good old fashioned silly fun
Of course they decide to make it temporarily free-to-play the week after I bought it for 30$ LOL
@JustPlainLoco Oh, it's not temporary
Grateful for free games but hard disk space is now the problem.
I've been enjoying it, but it's maddeningly chaotic at times!
Its on Mobile now? Kinda tempted to download it to my tablet, as it plain refuses to download the PS5 version to my console, just hangs in the download queue doing nothing
@Haruki_NLI - Way to kick a man when he's already in the gutter
I jumped back on last night and did the stadium game mode, insane amount of fun and new trophy list for PS5.
Though they still have that stupid trophy for 5 wins in a row 🤬
20 Million is crazy numbers.
My only complaint is that the store barely has anything to buy with Kudos. It’s obvious they want everyone to buy their new Show Bucks currency packs.
I thought I finally got the Infallible trophy before when I won 5 rounds in a row. Turns out you have to win 5 full shows in a row. WTAF!? 😫
Also, just seen that a Master Chief costume is coming to the game on 30th June 😁 It really is multi-platform now.
Been playing this since the original 2020 beta. Was excited for it to come to Switch but it runs like garbage compared to every other version. Crossplay should be disabled by default for Switch players as they have a pretty large disadvantage over other console and PC players due to the performance issues.
Imo the game has been a bit ruined now. They took away everyones crowns that were won by winning shows and gave them all pretty much worthless Kudos for them. Crows were used to to buy the more rare costumes. You had to WIN games to collect crowns to buy the cool stuff. Now its show bucks and actual $$$ for the stuff. They also downranked everyones rare, epic, and legendary items to uncommon sinec people can just buy them now when they show up in the store. Trying to win something like a duos game has now become a worthless mode to even play. I played 20 duos games in a row last night and not a single team member was able to qualify for the first round. If you're THAT bad at the game, please find something else to play.
It's great it's popular again & that more people can play it now. But a good amount of the F2P changes were a slap in the face to long time players and those that actually purchased the game.
Why are there so many bots in each game then?
@JustPlainLoco it gets worse - this was announced over a month ago, so if you truly only bought it last week then you were sadly ill informed of upcoming events that were already public info
it happens. Not quite the same, but I bought PUBG on PC and only played it for maybe half an hour or so, and then it went free to play too (not quite the same because it was sat in my library not really being played for a few months)
Well I'm definitely not one of them. Game grew stale after a few months. Even with the updates its the same game at its core.
Have really enjoyed getting back into it but I wish they’d fix the PS5 trophy issue. Either a separate list of auto-pop, not some grey area broken list.
Ooo I'm one of those 20 million. Game's kinda boring though
Uh oh guys. 20 million people in 2 days that like live service games. This kinda thing is why Sony's investing so hard in live service.
Fun to play in short 15-30min bursts and even moreso with friends
