NBA 2K22 PS5 PlayStation 5 1

Madden NFL 22 made some pretty big improvements to its Franchise mode this year, but when you see what 2K Sports is doing with MyNBA on the PlayStation 5, it serves as a reminder of just how far behind the American football franchise is. While EA Sports added offensive and defensive coordinators, NBA 2K22 will allow you to assign up to 17 different roles to your team, with personnel evolving and developing as you progress.

Depending on their attributes, you could have a Strength Trainer who eventually becomes a Team Doctor, for example – there’s so much depth and flexibility to each employee’s attributes that you could spend tens of hours on this aspect alone. A new Courtside Report delves into the dizzying number of details, which have been completely overhauled and re-written for the next-gen version of the game. Impressive stuff.

Training has also been the focus of the team’s attention, giving you more ways to plan and prep your roster’s development. You’ll need to take into account fatigue and fitness, as well as your opponent and game plan. You’ll even be able to assign unique game plan parameters for when you’re simulating, giving your starters a rest when you’re several possessions in the lead in the dying embers of a game, for example. It’s super in-depth stuff.

And these additions have been enhanced by a new spreadsheet layout which packs more information onto a single page at once. While this isn’t the sexiest of updates, it’ll allow you to absorb much more data at once, which will make decision-making that little bit more convenient. You can find out much more in the Courtside Report, but for now, let us know which team you’ll be leading to NBA glory this year.
