Here's another for the list: Planet Coaster: Console Edition will be offering a free PlayStation 5 upgrade to those who purchase the game on PlayStation 4. This will be available for both the physical and digital versions of the title, with the experience optimised for next-gen hardware when it launches before the end of this year.
That's all there is to this quick press blast besides the developer diary embedded above. It dives into how you can play the game and the sort of building options you'll have at your disposal. We recently played Planet Coaster: Console Edition for ourselves on PS4, so check out our impressions for more details. And for more information on free PS4 to PS5 upgrades, head on through the link.

Oooh, looking forward to this game!
If this game works good on ps4 ill buy it.
Really liked Roller Coaster Tycoon as a kid.
Was going to be a little annoyed there and cancel my PS5 copy preorder if it was £10 more expensive for no reason. But just checked and thankfully the PS4 and PS5 copies are same price!
The game itself looks awesome! Can't wait to play.
Awesome. Not sure I'll be getting a ps5 this year, so this is awesome news
@BrintaPap I did a preview of the PS4 version and it played great. Bit cumbersome on a controller as you'd expect, but very fun.
I've been playing a lot of Two Point Hospital since its release which was of course a spiritual successor to Theme Hospital. This looks very much like a spiritual successor to Theme Park, so I might just pick this up as a second game next to Demon's Souls.
This game is fantastic to all those questioning if they'll like it. It's a bunch of people from the origins Coaster Tycoon days that made it.
I had it on PC before I got locked out of one of my Steam accounts. So I'll likely buy it on console to support them again.
I think it’s going to be more cost effective for Devs to offer free PS5 upgrades. It’s much each for support and testing for all users in a system to be using the same version of the game.
Very interesting skirt around the upgrade and saves...
"you will be able to upload your park to the workshop on current gen"
"you will then be able to go and find your park in the workshop on next gen, download it, and pickup where you left off"
In other words, your saves don't carry across (as we know because ps4 disks just unlock the ps5 sku as a download)
I wonder how this works with career mode etc where is more of a campaign not sandbox parks.
The video also confirmed keyboard and mouse support for next gen consoles + workshop support for consoles!
Does this mean mods as well?
Yeah, this is a great game. Really love Planet Zoo too, it would be great to get that on console.
So if I was to buy the PS4 version of the game and use it in my ps5 when I get it then the PS4 would be exactly the same as if I was playing the ps5 version in every way?
@liamcroft @get2sammyb This is slightly off topic so my apologies but a thought occurred to me that, since I'm putting off buying the PS5 for a while, do these free upgrade from current-gen to next-gen offers have an expiration date? Has anything been said about that?
@Stonecold exactly what is was wondering 👍 ill buy this physical on ps4 as rt1,2 and 3 were teenage time wasters for me 😁 if I buy it (ps4 physical) will I get downloadable copy on ps5? Not really sure i want to fill that super fast yet rather small ssd!!!
@zupertramp A couple of the sports games have expiration dates, but that's all we know so far.
@Evilkensdad you will get a downloadable copy but you have to keep the ps4 disc and put it into the ps5 to run the ps5 digital version I believe.
