Insomniac Games revealed a new screenshot of PlayStation 5 exclusive Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales earlier today, and it accompanied the image with an interview that was published by Entertainment Weekly. In the back-and-forth between the publication and creative director Brian Horton, the developer explains that the spin-off will feature a “full-arc” for the titular hero, as his story from the original Marvel’s Spider-Man continues.
“We really are completing this hero's coming of age in our game,” he said. “It is a complete story. When we started crafting it, we realised that, with a little bit more of a compact storytelling style, we could tell a very emotionally impactful story that would fit really well as an experience that would take Spider-Man and [Miles Morales] and do justice to this character.”
The game’s currently expected to launch alongside Sony’s next-gen console later this year, although with the coronavirus pandemic in full swing, we’re still waiting for confirmation of that from the platform holder. We’re also eager to get a better look at the title, as the Japanese giant has been quiet since it unveiled its console earlier in the year. Hopefully all will be revealed in the coming weeks, with further PS5 presentations rumoured for August.

Well that’s good to know. It did look a bit like a standalone DLC in the original trailer. Hopefully it’s got a wee bit more depth in the gameplay as well and isn’t a straight copy-paste. I’d like to see Miles’ powers like his venom blast, invisibility and electric web be fully explored.
Will be interesting to see what improvements there are with this being next gen.
It's a full game like uc lost legacy, not 20 hours game but maybe about 10 hours like ratchet & clank ps4, which I like. Can't wait for the game
People calling this an "expansion" to the previous game really need to look up what expansion means
This game has nothing to expand on. Marvel's Spider-Man's story was expanded on and completed with The City that Never Sleeps. Peter isn't the main character here and the game takes place a whole year after the story DLC for the previous game. It's a full game, just not as long. Either way Sony is making quite the statement launching with this game on their shiny new router. Really hope they base the writing less on Ultimate Miles and more on mainstream Miles post-Secret Wars because his new comic series is great
With Halo delayed Sony will be in the lead at launch with this little gem.
Hopefully the city is full of life and great next detail.
Maybe it is time to buy ps4 Spider-Man... or maybe not yet...
I like this idea to be honest. It’s a shame other companies that create beautiful worlds can’t continue them properly with either standalone stories or dlc.
@djlard Buy the game and then get a PS5 in the holiday season lmao
Just a reminder for the 'DLC' crew that Lost Legacy is a full retail game (=/=downloadable content to a game) that is often regarded as one of the best uncharted games.
this is nothing new for us but it's a slap in the face of all the Xbone fanboys how keep saying it a five hour DLC!!
@thefirst Comments such as “BLM nonsense” are absolutely not tolerated on this site. Consider this your only warning.
Now that I've had time to mull it over I wish more studio's would give us these shorter experiences as sort of psuedo sequels, giving us more games on the process
@thefirst. Nobody is forcing to buy the Spiderman game.you making no sense at all.if you dont buy the game Spiderman will still sells millions.so what you saying.insomiac wont loose any sleep if you dont buy the game.word up son
@wiiware
Also it's open world right? So it's not like its done when you end the story. I'm going to enjoy this one with PS5 power and brand new TV. Probably even more than the first game.
Edit
And.. that awesome DualSense...
@TheFrenchiestFry To be fair, Uncharted The Lost Legacy is known as an expansion despite 4 having a proper conclusion and it following different characters. From the looks of it, this game is a proper full entry but I’ve seen quite a few DLC focus on another character in a similar setting.
Pumped about this game! Miles Morales is a great character, and it's definitely nice to take a break from Peter Parker, whose story has been told so, so many times. Definitely will be the first game I buy for my PS5.
@TheFrenchiestFry Still not convinced... had Spider-Man on ps3 and played it about 2 hours. It was exact copy of inFamous. I'm afraid this is the same, copy of Second Son.
@nessisonett Exactly this. Uncharted: Lost Legacy was a Standalone Expansion and calling this anything different is just marketing BS as it seems some think 'expansion' means it will not be a 'worthwhile' experience. Standalone Expansions from Infamous (Festival of Blood & First Light) and Uncharted were great so there is no reason to think this won't be either.
However, if you market it as what it is, you get idiots claiming that its somehow a lesser release because its 'just' a standalone expansion. Whether that's Sony's own fans expecting a brand new 'full' AAA release or MS fanboys mocking Sony for not having a big full new release (like Horizon 2 would be). Its a shame that people will see 'Standalone Expansion' as something 'negative' and either argue its something different as if they are 'embarrassed' by that or use it as a way to attack the game. Its not a 'bad' thing at all and Sony devs have a good track record of delivering great Standalone Expansions.
It doesn't matter really what you want to call it, even if by definition its a Standalone Expansion, it doesn't change the fact that its a hugely anticipated Launch title coming to PS5 only. It didn't change the fact that Lost Legacy was still a great game to play as were Festival of Blood and First Light.
@nessisonett Lost Legacy also features Samuel Drake as a supporting character so there is overlap between it and Uncharted 4. Naughty Dog have gone on record saying it was meant to be an expansion on that game but Miles Morales looks completely standalone and Peter so far is the only returning character from the previous game albeit with a very de-emphasized role from the looks of things compared to how Samuel was basically a prevalent supporting character in that game
This gets better and better. Loved Spider Man, and now with Miles Morales 😊
I know nothing about Miles outside of the Spiderman game, I have yet to watch Spiderverse.
Regardless, i am really excited about this game, i loved the original so just having more Spidey is exciting in itself but, when i add in how it might look on PS5 too, well i can barely contain myself!!
That's great. I'm eager to see this game release. However, I base purchase price on expected at hours. For AAA that expectation is 1:1 otherwise I'm waiting for a sale.
For me Peter Parker is Spider Man and always will be. I'm an old guy . However I'm still interested in this game.
@Lovespuds Highly recommend watching Spider-Verse and reading his new comic series. He's really grown to distinguish himself from Peter Parker since his conception and I'm happy both him and Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel are getting some well deserved publicity.
Are you sure miles morales is it's own game?.....every xbox fanboy seem to be100% sure it's a DLC, for weeks now?
Xbots must have inside knowledge!!, they seem to know more about ps than sony fans!, And more about insomniac games than the studio does itself!
Anyone would think these xbots are jealous and trying to tarnish a game before its even out. I blame Craig the brute for their anger🤔
@LiamCroft - Thank you Liam. As a BME individual myself who has been told to "Go back to my own country" walking into my local Tescos in addition to countless other acts of racism throughout life (in central London), the BLM aims are certainly not nonsense (I wished we lived in a world where it was, as in it being a non-existent issue). I know it's controversial to say, but if I could change my skin colour - I definitely would have by now.
@thefirst - Clarification and apology appreciated dude.
@playstation1995 - Word up son (I couldn't resist!)
@JayShaw. Haha.no doubt i understand.word up son
I already knew this but glad to hear Insomniac is doubling down on clarification/confirmation.
