Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning releases on the 8th September, but we're only just now seeing the remaster in action. Its first gameplay trailer is short, showing off a stealthy character build.
For those unfamiliar with the PS3 RPG, you're free to build your hero however you like. Sword and shield, chakrams, magical staff -- it's up to you. And as you level up, you unlock increasingly powerful perks and abilities to strengthen your class.
Are you looking forward to Re-Reckoning? Did you play the original game? Start sneaking in the comments section below.

Still not listed on PS store which is odd
I adored this on the PS3, I'm hoping that it's as good as I remembered!
@MisterWhen The places you can pre-order it from are very limited. Nowhere in my country has it listed yet. Amazon UK thankfully has had it for a while now.
Chakrams were the way to go. The combat was fantastic, but the story and quests were boring, so I never actually finished KoA the first time around. I am willing to take another shot.
Finally, I've been waiting for a gameplay trailer!
This game is the 👑 king of sidequest.i had 34 sidequest just a few hour of this game on my ps3.but kingdom of amalur is amazing.i l🖤ve the fast past gameplay.and the mage /sorcerer class is the best.magic and sword at the same time is magical.definetly getting this game for my ps4 pro.word is bond.word to god.word life.word to your mother word up son
I got the PS3 platinum for this about 2 weeks ago. I really hope mission structure within the cities has been addressed. Some of them have well over a dozen load screens and unskippable fly pasts of the city you're in. Really drags the game pace down having minutes of loading for simple fetch quests.
Hugr insta buy for me! Too had I'm out of town next week since it's my vacation! But can't wait to come back and play this gem!
Even if it was a basic port with barely any improvements, this would still be a day 1 purchase. Played it on both PC and PS3 and loved every minute. Definitely one of the most underrated games of last gen imo.
Was actually a great v game. Well buy this again
@Shigurui There was that one big city in the middle of the world map, which you needed to go into and out of A LOT, and every time they had to do the flyover cut scene, and man did it drag.
Worst part of the game for me, by far, and by far I mean the worst of it's kind in any JRPG I've ever played, was the inventory management. I know it's a loot game, but stuff really needed to stack better. I couldn't play more than 20 minutes w/o having to travel some place to sell stuff. Got so annoying about halfway thru the game, which is really long, I just stopped doing sidequests entirely trying to make it to the end without throwing my controller thru the tv.
I might even be tempted to play it again if they gave you unlimited pockets. Or just stacked stuff in them like most other games do. My wife and kids watched me play some of it, we mockingly called the game "Kingdom of Amalur: Inventory Management".
Rest of it was pretty good though. A few of the side stories were way better than the main story even. But it's hard to enjoy a game while you're so constantly interrupted and disgusted.
@Gatatog There were some serious bugs in the old. That and some better graphics are a must for me. Also, I would really like more Storage space, so many cool unique armour sets and weapons.
The article forgets to mention the builds can be changed when you get to the massive Fey tree. You can just be another class entirely. I switched to Rogue from Mage personally, as it was way more fun.
Hmmm, maybe I'm remembering it looking better than it did, but I see little improvement graphic wise.
Never did play this one even though I only heard good things from an extremely niche crowd. Nice to see a remaster so I can get round to it.
@Jayofmaya That's why I've been waiting for a gameplay trailer. When it was announced it was stated that it's been "Remastered with stunning visuals", but it looks exactly the same to me. 🤷🏼♂️
I'll be getting it regardless because it's still an amazing game.
@rjejr - Oh mate, that inventory system is abysmal. Thankfully I'd already played it years ago on the 360 and knew exactly which build, weapons and gear set I was going for so I just ignored everything and only picked stuff up to sell when I knew I was heading to a vendor. Juggling that nonsense system was a game in itself!
It's really notslagic seeing this game being revived to newer consoles. Really underappreciated and it's definitely what I would call "Fable 3 done right".
@playstation1995 I Enjoyed This Game So Much i Platinumed It Twice.
@SoulsBourne128
True it always gave me a Fable feel. However back when it first released I loved it but never finished it.. Will most def give this one another go!
They also have new dlc coming up right?
@Areus. This Game is amazing .word up son
Love that violently stabby stealth approach.
Dusting off my Chakrams right now...
Think I'll pass, the original had fun gameplay but it's story was pretty boring and it was really ugly even by Ps3 standards and this doesn't look any better despite being "remastered" ah well, cyberpunk will be here soon (hopefully)
@Gatatog I was impressed with this game when it was announced at the time and really wanted to play it but the demo made me skip it.
Was the demo not representative of the game or am I missing something?
Thank you in advance.
@Dr-M I wish I could answer that but I never actually played the demo so I have no idea how it compared to the full game.
This game has me interested. I love a good fantasy open-world game. Never played the original, so I hope that it lives up to my expectations!
Hmm something about this trailer makes it a bit off putting, guess i expected the graphics to be a bit more modern, still looks like ps3 lol.
BUT luckly i was one of the few who played the game back in the day and absolutely loved it!! So ill probably jump back in if it doesn't cost too much.
@Bentleyma- Fair, I personally feel rather disappointed, though. I really thought they were gonna put in a good amountt of work to bring it closer to modern standards. I guess as long as they have fixed gameplay issues and bugs I'll still get it, though.
@Jayofmaya Well hopefully we'll get a sequel if this remaster sells well enough!
one of my favorite RPGs loved the combat.
@Shigurui KoA:R was my first game where I ran into trouble like that, to that extent. And I've played a lot of JRPG, which obviously it isn't, but I've played some dungeon crawling loot pick-up games as well, and this was by far the worst. I have to say ACNH bothers me w/ it's limited storage capacity as well but at least I'm never more than a few feet away from the store to sell stuff, no fast travel required.
@rjejr - KoA's problem was the inventory limit is ridiculously low for a loot driven RPG at 130 items (120 without DLC) and a limit of 10 items per stack. The way it handled inventory in general was weird too. Weapon parts take up no space, gems do etc.
Even the storage limit in the house stash was tiny at 155 items, this coming out so close to Dark Souls with it's bottomless box holding 2000+ items highlights how paltry storage in KoA is. Really hope it gets addressed in this remaster.
@Bentleyma- Yeah! That will be a good thing.
@Shigurui "Weapon parts take up no space, gems do etc."
Gems took up seemingly ALL my space. And I don't think I ever even used them. Hard not to pick stuff up though playing a loot game, it's kind of the point.
If they don't at least stack the gems or expand the storage in the re-release they really should be ashamed.
@rjejr - Yeah, gems were a problem for everyone I think. The ridiculous thing is they're the only crafting items that used space, reagents, weapon and armory parts didn't. Why make one of many crafting items take up inventory space and not others? Baffling.
I won't be getting this anywhere near launch having only played it on PS3 recently but if inventory size, stack limits and loading times/frequency aren't addressed then I'll be giving it a miss.
@Shigurui I told my wife and kid - who both watched me slog thru parts of it - that it was being remastered and they both were like - Why?
I do think there was a good game under all of that, would be nice if they addressed a lot of the issues and turned it into a much better game rather than just a prettier one. I mean how hard can it be to change storage slots from 120 to 500? And those city flybys need to be skippable at least. Seems easy enough.
@rjejr - "They both were like why?" Lmao.
I assume that RAM limitation might have been an issue that meant having to load in the cities when you exit inner buildings back into them, causing those flyby scenes to play over and over.
As I said previously, Dark Souls had an item limit of well over 2000. There's absolutely no reason why KoA can't have at least 1/4 of that. We'll see soon enough.
@Shigurui If I were reviewing the game, which obviously I'm not, changes would be the first thing I covered. Of course if the person reviewing it hadn't played the first game, well then how would they know? Though if they didn't change the inventory system they would probably notice in a few hours, can't seem any better with time.
Like FF:CC, man was that Lite version an utter disaster to play. Got a Switch to play with a PS4 easily enough but game play was all downhill after that.
And in case you are starting to think - there really is no pleasing this guy - Luigi's Mansion 3, about 2/3 thru - is a wonderful to play couch co-op game, especially for a game that is really marketed as single player. So I can enjoy games, when they're done right.
