Early indications suggest Ghost of Tsushima could become Sony’s fastest-selling new IP, and one territory the title’s taking by storm is Japan. The platform holder released a statement on Twitter earlier today, explaining that the release has exceeded expectations, and that some stores have now run out of physical copies.
The manufacturer added that “additional production is underway”, and that fans can still purchase the PlayStation Store edition if they prefer. It’ll be interesting to see the release’s first week numbers in the region, but after a perfect review score from Famitsu, we suppose the title was always going to prove popular.

Great game!
Loving it so far.
Also, PS5 SSD load times are gonna be insane if the load times on this game are anything to go by. You can Fast Travel halfway across the map in under 10 seconds!
Well, my HDD is now full of around 3,000,000,000 photos of this game!
Great to hear! I just wish I had more time to play it! Super slight spoiler behind the tag; I finished exploring the first island But haven’t really progressed in the main story beyond rescuing yuna’s brother.
This game is fantastic, though I’m sure my wife thinks I’m super weird for stopping to take a screenshot every few minutes 🤣
N.i.c.e this game is selling well.its the 👻 ghost playa.amazing game.word up son
Cannot wait to pick this up later and play on the PS5. Looks the goods.
@Si_Is_The_One I am amazed this hasn't been picked up more, for a game of this size and visuals the load times are insane!
Brilliant game and yes I don't think I have spent so much time in photo mode of any other game and both GOW & HZD had really good photo modes too!
I'm on Act 2 and just finished Yarikawa and this game just gets better the further you get into it
This game has exceeded all expectation, and is much tougher than I thought it would be. I can usually take on a group of Mongols, but have found myself overwhelmed with one small mistake. Loving the exploration and the missions so far have all had purpose. Highly recommended!
@LN78 I'm not always a fan of skill trees these days as they often lock off mundane abilities like being able to stealth kill from above. Yet this one is excellent and makes sense story wise as well as Jin is having to adapt to the Mongol threat, coupled with some abilities learnt outside of the skill tree and feeding into that natural progression and they're on to a winner
Well that's one in the eye to the 'offended on your behalf' brigade screaming cultural appropriation to anyone enjoying the game. Sucker Punch have done an amazing job, cool to see it's getting recognition from Japan. It shows how much SP have respected the source of inspiration.
Great news. The game is great fun and I like Sucker Punch as a studio. My initial concerns about how it would treat ancient Japanese history were quickly dismissed after actually playing the game, which is just a fun polished video game.
The fact that Japan has responded well to a Western developer’s usage of the ancient Japanese setting is quite a compliment to SP.
Was sold out in my local Game store too! Luckily for me, someone had failed to pick up their pre-order wahahaaaaa! True ghostin.
Still playing the game on chapter 1 killing enemies, uncover the map, and upgrading my characters. Man the upgrade tree is so good in this game, I want all the abilities in the tree
To be honest, of all the Sony first party games, this was one that I had the least interest in. That said, saw the hype, bought it and I have been staying up late to play it. It is a very generic open world game mechanically but it is done so well and the combat so good, it just makes me want to explore. The way you can find things encourages exploration rather than stick everything on the map with a pin.
Well deserved for sucker punch it seems to be selling exceptional better than anyone could have predicted.
Loving it too. I'm playing on Hard and I spent a long, long time doing other things before doing that early quest, the Lady Misako one, that gives you the proper, damage-reducing armour; as a result the game was harder than a Souls game for quite some time. The cool thing is, now I've got better at the game I can go back to the Traveller's Attire and still not die (usually).
Totally worth the wait. This game is amazing and I've never been this excited to explore an open world since BoTW. Spent too much time with the exploration, doing side quests and unlocking skills, yet I'm still at chapter one. I really enjoy visiting places here and there while doing side quests. Kudos to Sucker Punch and you know you did an incredible job when you impressed the Japanese fans.
Shoutout to this game's menu and fast travel. They're so convenient. The menu is accessible and easy to understand while fast travel is really "fast".
Congrats to Sucker Punch, well deserved. Decided to walk a tight rope with this game that could've made things go very badly outside the West but instead delivered an experience everybody seems to be enjoying.
Glad I finally got this game to wash TLOU2 from my mind.
It’s sold out in all my local shops too. This didn’t happen with TLOU or FF7 so I’m assuming everyone seriously underestimated how popular it would be. Including me!
Good for Sony. It is really an amazing game. The game is easy to get into and hard to master in the beginning
I'm sure he game i9s as amazing as everyone claims it to be, but have to wait for a $30 sale or cheaper due to financial difficulties.
