We finally made it, everyone. Ghost of Tsushima, the open world samurai action game from Sucker Punch, is out in just a few days. The PlayStation 4 exclusive comes right before PS5 is due to arrive, but it looks like it should be a great way to end the current generation. The game releases this Friday, 17th July, but Sony has gone ahead and released a launch trailer to get us all in the mood.
It's a brief, but stylish video that certainly gets us hyped to explore Tsushima island. It looks suitably action-packed and very atmospheric, with gorgeous scenery. Again, we're just days away now, so it's nearly time to jump in. Are you pumped to play Ghost of Tsushima? Sharpen your blade in the comments section below.

yep i'm in.
got my pre order in a couple of days ago.
with TLOU 2 and this, the ps4 got a very well handled swansong.
Does this have major story spoilers? Some launch trailers have been bad for that of late
@AdamNovice You're safe with this one.
I've been holding off on watching trailers and big gameplay chunks just to go into this game as fresh as possible.
@Quintumply That's good to know. When's the review due?
@AdamNovice tomorrow. 3pm BST
CANāT WAIT FOR FRIDAY AND TO FINALLY HAVE THE WEEKEND TO PLAY THIS BEAST!
Pre-ordered the 'Special Edition' as soon as that went live at GameStop a while back. Absolutely can't wait to play it. Sucker Punch delivered the first exclusive of this gen that I really liked and now they're closing it out with my most-anticipated game of the year. Hopefully it delivers.
Defenately contender for my goty. I. Itching to play it. Money came out of my account 3 days ago and was prepared for dispatch. Not watched anytging apart from the state of play and it looked mighty good.
My $60 psn card is ready š
Also holy heck this game is gorgeous, I can believe it if sony says this is a ps5 game.
I wish they'd shown more of the characters you'll be interacting with. They've steered away from that quite heavily. You've seen glimpses but there's nothing that's conveyed much personality or any kind of emotional hook for me yet. I'll still get it, just a bit wary about that aspect, like it might be a pretty but ultimately soulless experience in the worst case scenario.
Love how Corey Barlog completely broke the embargo lol. Seems there's alot of buzz on twitter from people who have it.
Yep I have the timer mocking me every time i put on my Playstation
repeatedly checks emails for dispatch notice
Looks irresistible tbh cannot wait. Sublime work tbh i think, i dont want to think to hastily which i probably am but in all honesty I think sucker punch did an amazing job.
Pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe last week, very excited and i can see this being a GOTY contender. The game pretty much kills the idea of Assassin's Creed ever going to Japan now, this not only covers what that series could do but most likely do it better and more justice.
I will say i've loved how gaming this Gen has focused on Samurai's and this era in history quite a bit what with this, Sekiro and the Nioh games.
TLOU2 and now Ghost of Tsushima.
I love epic story driven games, so I am in heaven right now.
I'm waiting for tomorrow's reviews to drop, but after completing TLoU2, I'm excited to see how GoT is received. If it reviews well I'll be picking this up tomorrow.
My this year's AC...
@Lacerz Exactly my take on this as well!
I need some reviews to pull me over the fence. The combat looks great and the graphics gorgeous, but wondering whether or not the game delivers on more than just these two points.
I know that the makers delivered before (Infamous series). But with this one I need more than some amazing looking graphics and stuff.
Tomorrow will be the decisive day for me!
Just one word...
EPIC!!!
(not the dev studio)
It looks so, so good. Looking forward to grabbing it when I've finished TLoU2.
Can't bloody wait! I'm working all weekend 36 hours! ā¹ļø But I'll definitely start it Friday!
I hope this one doesn't take 5 days in the mail like TLOU 2 did. I've finished that now so all set to get fully immersed on Friday.
Really looking forward to this ever since it was announced. Love the setting, it looks great really great, I think the story will be interesting as well.. as far as you can tell right now.
However I hope the world stays interesting over the course of the game, I hate to use the term: AC-like or Ubi-like but I really hope it doesn't go down that road. Also.. Nitpicking incoming.. but the lack of animations when collecting resources feels of.. Also came across some gameplay and there the foliage wasn't reacting to the player..
Looks a lot like Nioh to me, partly due to the setting of course. Will definitely pick this up at some point
Holy Moly, this just looks better and better each time we see it! Roll on Friday
Got 9 days off for sure, possibly 11. Too hot to be outside so guess what I'll be doing.
The end of this generation? I am pretty sure the ps4/ps4 pro has plenty of life lefy in it..lets not be sounding the final bell just yet.
And I called for that day at work. Glorious <3
LET'S GOOOOO
Ft ugu ung
After watching Japanese trailer I am definitely playing with the subtitles!
Playing through the last of us 2 finishing possibly tonight, then devoting my time to Ghost of Tsushima. Big Tenchu fan here, this game looks incredible.
I'm getting a witcher 3 vibe, with samurai aesthetics. Which isnt a bad thing. Im thinking open world mission setup, similar to horizon: zero dawn and the witcher 3. I still remember the first trailer, waaaaay back when. Glad it wasnt vaporware.

@LemonHaze Na 12 hours a day Friday Saturday Sunday..... It sucks!
@Fearful-Octopus tenchu fan? Same here, definitely get that vibe from this. I'm shocked no one else has made a game like this before!
Hi there fellow gamers. I know IĀ“ve said it a few times....... But I imply Cannot Wait to Play this GAME!!! Only a few more days until IĀ“m able to live my Samurai/Ninja fantasy, dream like game. So excited for this. A very personal GOTY. Cheers, stay safe and happy gaming to us all
