Building a car is a lengthy and complicated process, but what if it was as simple as snapping blocks together? Trailmakers, released today on PlayStation 4, allows you to do just that, and it looks like a fun time.
As outlined over on the PlayStation Blog, the game is a physics-driven sandbox in which you must scavenge for parts in order to build whatever vehicle you fancy. As you progress and find more and more resources, you'll be able to construct better and more imaginative creations, able to make cars, boats, planes, and all kinds of bizarre things in between.
The open world is filled with different environments and toys like ramps and catapults to let you put your wheels to the test. You can collaborate with other players online, and share your creations with the community.
If you like these open ended games and want to take Trailmakers for a spin, it's out today on PlayStation Store for $29.99 / £24.99. Will you be giving it a go? Build a better comment down below.

Interesting idea. I'm actually surprised there hasn't been an official LEGO game like this yet.
@get2sammyb wasn’t LEGO worlds like this? Or am I forgetting how it was? Lol
@sawaoyamanaka Maybe it was! I thought LEGO Worlds was more of a Minecraft type thing, but I never played it.
I'm surprised they haven't been hit by a lawsuit from LEGO!
It does look like quirky fun, though. I might pick it up, but in the future... got enough to be playing for now, and TLOU2 and GoT imminent, so... not now.
Have LEGO seen this yet? I'm sure they would be interested as it has more than a passing resemblence to their own product! Cue letter to lawyer...
This looks quite good fun. My kids would love it
OMG it's the Labo Vehicle kit w/o the Labo. 🤣
Even their tagline "Build-Explore-Race" is a riff on Labo's "Make-Play-Discover".
Also Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, but not as much as Labo.
@ryancraddock will back me up on this if he ever finishes building it, I have my doubts.
@get2sammyb @sawaoyamanaka from what i remember, lego worlds had nothing like this in terms of interactive builds. all the interactive elements were preset bundles/sets or pre-built vehicles.
@kac you weren’t stuck with their pre-builds. You could create your own creations, no matter how ugly they were.
@sawaoyamanaka but if you actually wanted them to have usable functions like lights or driving, you had to use presets . Sure you could build these things but they were only static, as opposed to this game in the article where the vehicles work.
Looks fantastic. Maybe the world could have a little more life and it says nothing about any story at all. Could potentially be an absolute goty otherwise.
