Yep, the cogs are certainly in motion folks. Microsoft has just announced that it plans to showcase next-generation gameplay as part of a digital Inside Xbox event next week from its "global developers partners". Amongst the reveals will be third-party titles also coming to PlayStation 5, meaning we're finally about to get a taste of what these machines can do.
One of the PS5 games you can look forward to seeing gameplay of is Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Ubisoft has confirmed that the Viking-inspired experience will take to the digital stage as part of this Inside Xbox broadcast. So, what else can we expect? Cyberpunk 2077 and Dying Light 2 are two possibilities thanks to the confirmation that next-gen versions are in the works, but it's new games which will excite the crowd from home the most. Will Elden Ring make its grand return here? We'll have to see what the team in green has in store for us on Thursday, 7th May at 8AM PT/ 4PM BST.
Will this cause Sony to break its silence? Who knows. We'll bring you all the coverage related to PlayStation here on Push Square, while any Xbox Series X-specific reveals will be hosted on our sister site Pure Xbox. What games do you want to see? Share your predictions in the comments below.

Hyped to see what next-gen is going to look like!
It's all kicking off!
Sony really need to start saying when they will be showcasing. At this rate we are going to get PS5 game announcements from third parties way before Sony even say anything. Excited it’s all starting though and I’m excited to see what Xbox showcase next week.
Meanwhile in PS5 still a damn logo and a controller, i'll be surprised if Sony is still hiding the console in whole May.
@stua12t We already know plenty about PS5 and we'll know everything within the next six or so weeks. Just need to be patient.
@get2sammyb I hope so. Really looking forward to seeing some PS5 gameplay at some point.
realy exited for AC valhalla.
game looks stunning already without seeing gameplay.
brilliant ps5 launch game.
@get2sammyb we've known plenty already about PS5? are you sure about that? they still haven't shown the console, launch exclusives & price.
@louieverr We didnt get all that until June 2013 with the PS4, strange people are acting as if Sony hasn't been this "quiet" in the past
@redd214 Prolly because of how MS has been handling Xbox Series X so far, made people waiting for PS5 feel like Sony ain't doing sh*t in comparison to the previous time around.
@redd214 but still, times have changed and it isn't anything the same as it was, Sony had no E3 to begin with this year and Microsoft has already moved on to showcase games, they're basically done showing the console, controller, specs, hardware-teardown and launch titles.
@stua12t Few more weeks! We're hyped, too!
@louieverr We've known lots about Playstation 5 since last year. Sony were first to reveal their hand. What the box looks like doesn't really matter right now.
We know what the internals are like.
We know what the controller is like (in more detail than the series x controller)
We dont know about any series x launch exclusives (and know that there wont be any for 2 years)
We havent seen any series x gameplay. Just a cg video for hellblade and halo
We dont know the price of series x.
Sony will make an announcement when they are ready
Hate to say it but Microsoft are doing a hell of a lot right so far.
@louieverr I mean, Microsoft hasn't shown the launch exclusives and price either. There's still plenty of time for all that. It's coming.
@TrueAssassin86x your body is reggie? I’d go and see a doctor about that if I were you!
@RazielReaper of course, I know it's reactionary to MS but I still find it odd. I mean we didn't get the Switch price until like 6 weeks before launch and it worked out fine for them. It's still 6 months away, not knowing single minute detail right now isn't really a big deal imo but to others I guess it is.
@Rob_230 you missed Halo is a launch exclusive, they've shown other title which is Hellblade and also this upcoming May 7th to showcase games running in this hardware. We don't know the internals of PS5 and console itself, they've basically shown a damn logo and a controller.
Yay. I think PS5 event will follow very soon.
See this is why I believe Sony’s approach has been wrong with ps5. They’ve announced a fair bit about it yet people think they haven’t.
They should have had a loud and dedicated event like they did with PS4 leaving no doubt about what’s what. So far they’ve just stealth dropped info in bits and it’s had a poor effect imo...
@louieverr Did you miss the very technical presentation Cerny did on the PS5 a month ago? And those two games aren't exclusives, they're on PC too. Phil said they're not going to have any exclusives for the first year or more. But we do know what it looks like - a gift box for a bottle of bourbon - which somehow outweighs the previous negative points @Rob_230 and I just highlighted, apparently.

It rumor that the ps5 reveal event is happening early June
The most exciting time of a event is the time waiting for it to come.
Being best is more important than being first.
I really hope Sony drops the first look at the PS5 on that same day, even just an Instagram pic or Blog Article
I always watch Microsoft conference for some reason .so definitely watching this.word up son
I’d really like Sony to announce that if we buy PS4 versions of these games we will get a free upgrade. I know Valhalla is confirmed to do it on Xbox as is all their first party games. It’s just be a nice thing for them to answer sooner rather than later.
@louieverr halo isnt a launch exclusive. Its on xbox one and pc too
@BearsEatBeets some times first one out with a better product is all that matters. I mean XboxSX 3rd party games are going to look so much better than PS5.
Thanks Xbox. Hopefully Sony will stop being so tight lipped someday.
I could’ve sworn that Sony admitted in recent years that they wanted to be more transparent with their players. If that’s true, they really haven’t succeeded
@Glennh73 have you seen them running side by side?
@Glennh73 third-party games will look near indistinguishable this generation between the Series X and PS5, unless zoomed in and freeze-framed like on Digital Foundry videos. The reality is the power delta between both consoles is the closest they’ve ever been, much closer than the PS4 Pro to the One X, for example.
You guys will see soon enough. Just hope frame rate is 60 across the board but wont hold my breathe.
PS5 reveal will follow, my guess is Mid May and i'm willing to bet Call Of Duty 2020 will be revealed with PS5 Gameplay along with Horizon Zero Dawn 2 reveal.
And why are people so worried on Sony "falling behind"? Behind to what? They've dominated this gen, and besides all the Juicy stuff always gets revealed in June during E3 so why are we panicked when we haven't even hit May yet.
@redd214 Yea but Sony had already shown games by February. Which is all anyone cares about really. And pls dont bring up Godfall because that looks like a Destiny ripoff. If that's what we have to look forward to a launch God help us all this gen.
To me Sony seems scared of MS. They havent been confident in anything they shown so far. They wait in the corner for MS to show what they have and havent matched there level of hype yet. Its irritating from a fan of Sony. You can tell MS isnt going to make the same mistakes it did last gen. I really hope for this event MS comes out with a bang because then it would really put the pressure on Sony. Because as of this moment this has been the least hyped I've been for a Sony console launch.
@Ken_Kaniff OK bud, I won't bring up Godfall. I'm sure the ps5 will be fine, hope it meets your expectations
@redd214 Man I'm telling yall now you need to wake up with this upcoming gen. It's not gonna be the amazing Shawn Layden ran PS4 one. Jim Ryan/Herman Hulst are gonna turn it into a microtransaction/GaaS machine. These amazing sp games we got on PS4 will be few and far between. It's already started with Godfall and there gonna do the same with that Last of Us mp game that's coming. Mark my words in a few years. If I'm wrong I'll own up to it, but you can already feel the change since they've taken over
@Ken_Kaniff cool man. I hope you find some enjoyment in the upcoming generation, I know I will.
Very exciting news for fans of both the team in green and the Japanese giant!
@redd214 I hope so to.
Looking forward to this - although the majority of the games will be available on current gen too for those that won't be upgrading at/around launch.
I know MS have been more vocal over their next gen plans to date - which may make Sony look to be 'behind' right now but I am not concerned - I will get both consoles anyway. It would be great to know what (if any) plan Sony has for those that opt to buy PS4 versions of games and whether or not they have their own version of 'Smart Delivery'.
There is still likely to be unknowns - even after we get some idea of the games releasing. Not necessarily the 'differences' (if any) between platforms but what happens if you buy on PS4 and then upgrade to PS5, whether games have cross-platform (or cross generation) options if they have online functionality etc. We may need to wait for Sony to reveal the PS5 so devs can actually comment on features. Both AC:Valhalla and Cyberpunk have confirmed they will utilise Smart Delivery and CDPR couldn't comment on the PS4/5 version... yet
@Ken_Kaniff your are just being paranoid for the sake of it... you don't really know what the future holds, even if you think you do, so just wait...
I'm happy with anyone showing more next GEN game play at this point.
It is 3rd party - so probably even a few games I will want on PC in there
Excited to see what games look like on next gen in comparisons to current gen not just on its own and to those wondering why Sony haven’t shown ps5 off maybe it’s because they actually have exclusives games to sell first for PS4 unlike Microsoft that are using halo infinite a Xbox one and Xbox SX game to advertise Xbox SX which I am excited for but I’m happy playing it on my Xbox one x, Sony will no doubt show off ps5 with actual ps5 games not just current gen games enhanced for ps5 but they may need another month to show off the last of us part 2 and ghost of Tsushima I mean I want to see some actual gameplay not a vertical slice of the game I mean actual this is what your getting gameplay.
@rpg2000 He's always like that, at least when it comes to PS5 news. Apparently, the new one is "Sony is scared of MS." Lol. Can't tell you how much I rolled my eyes at that one.Sony obviously has the edge currently, especially with how successful they were this gen. You know they're going to come out with a more stronger 1st party lineup, so I don't get all the paranoia and pessimistic outlook. A change in management, doesn't mean it's the end of all things. I understand to a point the impatience of wanting to know more about PS5 and the games, but they have their reasons for doing what they do. Until then, relax and keep busy.
I'd love to see more Cyberpunk 2077.
@rpg2000 At this point I just consider his intent as concern trolling because it seems like that’s all he does on these articles; try to spread uncertainty in the guise of genuine concern. His claims go directly against what Jim Ryan and Hermen Hulst have said themselves.
Here’s a quote from Hulst: “And we’re very committed to quality exclusives. And to strong narrative-driven, single-player games.”
Here’s one from Jim Ryan: “We’ve never had greater success with our own narrative-driven, story-based games than we’re having right now. We feel good about that, and it’s certainly not a genre of gaming we’ll ever walk away from.”
I'm looking forward to seeing what third parties plan to do with the extra horse power of PS5 and Series X, especially in terms of current gen multiplats releasing soon that may have 'forwards compatibility.' I have a hard time getting too hyped about 'next-gen' third party multiplats, though because the truth is most are actually going to be cross-gen. As usual it won't be until years 2, 3 or 4 that we start seeing independent studios taking advantage of the newer hardware.
@RazielReaper it's also because Sony hasn't had a showcase event in about 2 years.
Wow this headline really triggered the cream of the cream on twitter 🤓
"See what these machines can do..." It's all gonna be air before 2021 even starts... You'll see.
Hold out on buying and thank me later 👌
