How do you beat Azai Nagamsa in Nioh 2? How do you beat the boss in the Bird in a Cage mission? This foe may look like a normal human being, but once you get into the swing of things and prepare to fight, Nagamsa reveals the trick he has been hiding up his sleeve. This is a difficult fight, but we'll help you overcome it. Here's how to beat Azai Nagamsa in Nioh 2.

How to Beat Azai Nagamsa in Nioh 2

Azai Nagamsa has wings, and he's going to take full advantage of them. Covering the vast majority of his body, they'll deflect all projectiles and attacks. This means that your only option when they're in use is to simply stay on guard and recover stamina as and when you can. Besides that, there's no point in attacking the boss as you'll only leave yourself open to sustaining some damage.

In terms of attacks, they're mostly limited to the standard swipes of a sword, however, it's the combos you'll really want to watch out for. Combined with a magical attack which shoots its own projectiles at you, dashing about the arena is thoroughly recommended as you attempt to avoid their hitboxes. Don't let them deal too much damage or you'll be setting yourself up for failure.

If you summon another player before entering the boss arena, you can pretty much wail on Azai Nagamsa, delivering multiple combos from behind. Although, to do that you'll need to share agro with your AI partner to make sure they don't die too quickly. If their health is getting low, grab the boss' attention so that they can retreat and heal up. Both of you should make it to the Dark Realm, however, you're going to be spending a lot of time there. Probably about half the entire fight in fact as Azai Nagamsa spends more time there than any other boss you've encountered so far. Therefore, be on your guard with stamina management key to beating this particular foe.

Burst Counter its attacks if you're feeling confident enough, but you can just as easily get out of the way of them with a well-timed dodge. That's because these moves are rather tough to get the timing right on -- especially so when they're multiple whirlpools shooting out of the ground. Besides that, make sure to stay on guard, timing your attacks carefully, and not committing to too long of a combo.
