PS4 Firmware Update 6.70 Can Be Downloaded Now

@Frigate That sounds like possible software corruption. Have you tried doing a factory reset and all that stuff?

@Frigate Yeah that sounds like a specific case then, which is always better than it being completely random!

Worth noting that the PS Store definitely has issues, especially if you stay on it for too long. I've done it before and it's reduced the system to a crawl. Not ideal.

@BridgeToClarity This describes me. My PS4 has been running flawlessly for almost five years, but I am on my third controller. I don’t throw them, and I play a lot less than a lot of folks (wife, kids, full time job). My controllers seem to just be giving out from regular use, and it is frustrating. My big hope for PS5 is a better controller.

That is pretty much my only complaint about this gen, as the system and games are great!!!!

Ps4 pro crashed constant slowdowns sturting opting in out of windows even when internal drive space was half external 3tb high speed drive had just over 300gb space left numrous staberbility patchers did speedup trasitioning windows scrolling ect still eventually slowdown i wish sony would remove old pc kit browser inplement a new fresh browser filter out junk that the ram collects and clear error history. Give the theme a new look instead of making the theme look more like a ui android based theme with folders i know amd as cores around it makeing the theme more like a android based theme is pathetic sony chooses ideas the content in firmware not inportant ones new browser diffrent theme clearring access ram not just notification & msgs

Mine crashes weekly, not counting when it freezes up totally and then I have to give it a hard reset. That happens every couple weeks and it's so frustrating.. Between that and the psplus games either being ones I already have or total garbage I'm almost to the point of going back to my Xbox as my main console.

You may need a hard drive replacement. replacing it is pretty simple, but they do breakdown and degrade in performance over time and sometimes they can be bad out of the factory. I'd suggest getting an ssd to fill the space but there are also extremely cheap 2tb hdds on Amazon. this would also save you tons of money.

@BridgeToClarity I bought a racing wheel with a clutch and 8 speed just to not mess up my controllers, but I still use my day one controllers for racing games sometimes, you might be pressing to hard?

@Frigate I'd say pull the trigger on a PS4 Pro, as soon as you can, during the upcoming Days of Play. They're on sale for $349, and, for the past two years, special edition consoles, such as Glacier White, God of War, and etc., are on the same sale, at every distributor. Amazon sells out quickly, but GameStop is actually a VERY good place to go, for this, because it's the last place people think about, to get those deals. 😂😂😂 Last year, I bought a Glacier White, GameStop exclusive Pro, three days into the sale, and I remember the Star Wars:BSII Pro and GoW, I think, were still available, too, at my local store. I know RDR2, at least, had a Special Edition, in the past year, but there had to be more.

I didn't open my Pro, until September 7, for Spider-Man (and my birthday weekend), and the difference is definitely worth it. On a 4K HDR 65" screen, it's awesome, even for games that don't specifically "support" the Pro, because the upsampling is better than that on almost any TV...

@Frigate My ps4 is still going strong day 1 ps4. its on just about everyday either on netflix, amazon, plex, or playing games. No crashing or anything major. I say my other problem is on some games the fan can get loud. But from time to time i take some compressed air to the vents/fan and its all good.

The store has been a bit glitchy for ages - has frequent moments where it seems to crash out and then restart itself as you go to a different game. It does remember where you going to when it does it though?
The PS4 has been very reliable so far - has a weird lock-up/crash with ESO yesterday but I think that was ESO server related as the PS4 was still able to kill the app and restart.

@Frigate exactly the same issue on my pro. I had to rebuild my database. It's been a real pain especially as my wife and kids are away. Still I hadn't rebuilt the database for years so that's made it much faster than it was

I did a rebuild database, that fixed for me. A fully factory reset would be a real pain. I'd recommend trying database rebuild first save downloading everything again

Funny. Installed it. Since then, two crashes.

@Lawless802 Why not rebuild the database. Do a backup and a fresh installation. Never had these problems though not yet at least. 😁

It didn't help my other ps4 when I did it, so I haven't bothered trying to do it to the pro.

Final Fantasy. Even though it hasn't been great since 10 or good since 12 just FF7, FF8 and FFX put it up there.

Uncharted. Even though I hated 1 and 3 was a let down from 2 2 was just epic. 4 and LL were also really good.

hmm, those 2 franchises are above and beyond the rest. Jak and Daxter The Precursor Legacy (the 1st game) is still my all time favorite game, followed by FF7 and Uncharted 2, though Xenoblade Chronicles is gaining ground). Jack 2 and 2.5 (as I call 3) were lame, Jak X racing wasn't my thing, and Heroes on the Move was pretty horrible. Xenoblade Chronicles was awesome, but XCX was lacking in story and I haven't played 2 yet. The original Xenogears was a great JRPG, as was Xenosaga, but Xenosaga 2 and 3 were lackluster. Basically I only play JRPG.

Other non-JRPG runner ups would be the 3 inFamous games. 3D Mario games Sunshine, Galaxy 1 & 2 and Odyssey. I don't like 2D games.

It's hard for me to pick franchises b/c I'm so picky I like 1 game then hate the rest. Like the 3 Matrix movies, of which 2 and 3 are so bad I forbid my son from watching them. Though I'll give a shout out to the Tak (not to be confused w/ Jak) games. Tak and the Power of Juju was really good, but the sequels faltered.

I really liked Zelda Breath of the Wild but the only other Zelda game I liked was Hyrule Warriors so that franchise is nowhere to be found on my list.

So basically I like some JRPG series and 3D world action type story driven games. Dont' like sports, fighting games, first person shooters, first person anything really. Or 2D.

I have played all of the God of War games except Ascension, and they are all really good, but for whatever reason that never makes my franchise list. I think it's the fixed camera. I'd rather play faster DmC or the Bayonetta games. I really need to borrow DmC 5 from my library when the kids go back to school in September, summer is for outdoors stuff.

I'd be happy to see a remastered Parasite Eve at E3. It's the game I got my PS for, the first "modern" game I played. I had Pong and Atari before that but took a decade off from gaming - about 88-97 - for grad school. And I'm more of a Giants fan that a Jets fan. Can't recall ever really rooting for the Jets, they haven't had much to root for in my lifetime. Not that the Giants are going any where this year either but at least Sequan is fun to watch.

When was it a great game? When it released for $60 w/ a $20 season pass and required a full length movie and webisode series to get the story, or is it a great game now after people had to pay even more for the Royale edition and another DLC purchase?

FFXV is the poster child for how to screw up a single player game by making it a game as a service. Never again.

Still playing with my second hand Ps4 I bought 4 years ago.
For those having problems with their brand new PS4 Pro I suggest to disconnect it from the evil internet and to clean its souls with a blind playthrough of Bloodborne.
