Dauntless appears to have done well for itself following its launch on PlayStation 4 earlier this week. The free-to-play action role-playing game was previously in beta on PC for quite a while before hitting Sony's console as well as Xbox One. It seems to be a good result given that developer Phoenix Labs is happy to brag about it.
We've been playing Dauntless on and off since it released on PS4, and it's actually pretty good. If you're on the market for a more streamlined Monster Hunter-like experience, then we'd recommend giving it a try.

It's early days but it's very rinse and repeat:
Start mission
Kill one monster
End mission
I've only got Patrols and Pursuits unlocked though.
Seems to have plenty of options for builds what with Armor variations, Weapon Types (you can slot both with 'Cells' of various types to boost attributes) and 'Lanterns' which give characters extra abilities, as well as being able to slot craftable grenades, potions and gadgets.
The option of solo (gets easier later on) or up to 4 player squads is there, particularly impressive as it's all cross-play with PC/PS/XBox.
Hoping they can clear up their launch teething troubles as the servers seem to be taking a beating at peak times.
Overall, excellent for free but very minimal content (for now) compared to, say, Skyforge.
Question, do u have to have ps+ to play it?
@ellsworth004 I believe it's like the other free-to-play games on PS4 — you don't need PS Plus.
It's an OK game at best, nothing compared to monster but then again if you find monsyer hunter too hard then this may be for you, also over the past two days I've found it difficult to matchmake and so many server problems, also they need to add a lock on feature
I played for about twenty minutes trying to kill some unmoving monsters, than I was booted out for not having a good enough Internet connection, at which point I deleted it.
I play it everyday.. but its getting really repetetive. Maybe I will buy MH because of this Game
I have it downloaded but get an error endlessly every time I try to log in.
Tried it out and fun enough for free. Heck I'd even throw a few bucks at it, but I had to use a usa account to download it and my Asia account doesn't have the game so that means nothing to buy. Oh well.
For a F2P it's pretty decent.
Not much content as already mentioned however.
A few months of adding "behemoths" and such and it would probably turn into a realistic MH Lite.
@Rossif3r I do not think the MHW is very grindy at all.
