Grand Theft Auto V first released in 2013; it’s still topping the UK sales charts in 2018. The unbelievable success of Rockstar Games’ open world opus trucks on, with the title securing its 14th cumulative number one, putting it close to record holder Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’s 18 week record. GTA5’s now spent 226 weeks on the UK sales charts, never falling out of the Top 40 and spending half of that time in the Top Five.
Elsewhere, the lack of new releases means there’s very little to talk about, but we’ve included the full Top 10 below.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 13th January 2018
- Grand Theft Auto V
- Call of Duty: WWII
- FIFA 18
- Assassin's Creed Origins
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds
- Star Wars Battlefront II
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
- Forza Motorsport 7
- Super Mario Odyssey

I just don't get it.
Wow that's pretty crazy considering how long the game has been out.
When consoles keep been sold GTAV will do as well.
Why??It's not THAT good..
I reckon simply nobody expected GTAV to be just this huge of a hit. Of course GTA has always been big, but this is just gargantuan. GTAV is on another level.
An example of the gaming site bubble at play. There are plenty of people out there who don't even visit sites like this who just bought an Xbox and PlayStation with their Xmas money, and guess what game they buy with it?
That is actually bonkers!
I do wonder if GTA V will push the GTA franchise in sales to surpass the only 2 franchises above it
Mario
Pokemon
I don't understand the quote about who wants to be a millionaire?
I used to be a GTA addic back in the day. Still like the games, (not the online part that much though) but strangely enough I invested several days of gameplay into San Andreas on ps2, but gtaIV on ps3 and gtaV on ps4 just haven’t had the same pull on me... not sure why, but personally I think the narrative is over rated in IV and V.
@get2sammyb It's the highest rated PS4 game. It's like buying Zelda or Mario with your Nintendo. Not surprised at all. I've seen a lot of sales for GTAV as well!
Love the single player game, right up there with san andreas and vice city for me. Never got into the online content as much but can see why its sold buckets!!
Never heard of it.
I'm playing through it again at the moment, on and off. When I played it in 2013, I enjoyed it, but I was a bit disappointed with the story, which I thought was a step back from Niko Bellic's tale. I also thought the overall tone was a bit too juvenile, even for GTA.
I've got to say, going in again, with no expectations; it's a hell of a lot of fun, and I'm enjoying the story more this time. But online is where everyone is. The early story-related trophies have an earned percentage of around 25% - everyone who's buying this now is doing so because all their mates are playing it online.
Great game but by god we need to move on.
No stopping GTA
Still never played it.
At this point I feel almost like a man on a mission to avoid playing it. Like it’s a badge of honor, similar to those people who brag about never having seen a Star Wars movie.
That's still a good list of varied games, there's usually always whiney people that come to this feature and tell everyone how dire everyones taste is. Pathetic.

@KirbyTheVampire
Me neither.
Its just another GTA game. It just looks prettier, but it's exactly the same as any other GTA game.
The only thing it does really well, ..other then devour hard drive space, is that it has so many ancillary actives you can get lost in.
I've thought of getting it a few times, but it's just never looked that interesting to me. I've been playing Yakuza, and loved Sleeping Dogs and Watch Dogs. Is GTA V such a better open-world city game than others, or is it just the same, but got lucky?
hahahah I'm guilty, I picked it up the other week for like $30 (2nd time I've bought it) to check out teh first person mode, and it really changes the game soo much
