So, Cyberpunk 2077. It's been a long time since we heard anything concrete about CD Projekt Red's next game, but a single tweet has got people going crazy. The title's official Twitter account has been silent since 2013, but today, it suddenly posted. The tweet simply reads: "*beep*". Very cheeky.
The Polish studio will obviously know that people are desperate to hear something about the highly anticipated release, so this could quite easily be the team having a laugh. That said, as far as developers go, CD Projekt Red has a reputation of being pretty genuine -- just look at all of its support for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
As such, could this tweet be the start of something... More? We'll be keeping our eyes and ears open.

Oooh!
Aaah!
No, stop it! I can't take it.
I love how all they have to tweet is "beep," and Twitter goes crazy. Wonderful stuff.
Nice. I am definitely looking forward to this.
@Jake3103 Yeah, I was thinking that. Reminds me of when Rockstar changed the colour of their logo to red on Twitter, and everyone was like WOAH RED DEAD REDEMPTION 2
I hope that “beep” tweet wasn’t supposed to represent the final beep on the heart monitor before someone flatlines.
Its been nearly 3yrs since the Witcher 3 released and, assuming that they worked predominantly on Blood and Wine, nearly 2yrs since that. The first, and only, trailer released in 2013 so maybe they had a 'skeleton' crew working on that during the Witcher 3's development. Not all staff would be required to work on the Witcher at all times - especially if they had fulfilled their role but on hand if any tweaks etc are needed.
It took 4yrs between the Witcher 2 and the Witcher 3 releasing - although they did also bring the Witcher 2 to XB360. Cyberpunk is expected to be 'larger' but I still wouldn't think it will release until 2019 at the earliest. If that is the case, some news through 2018 isn't unreasonable...
If it's like the Witcher 3 but set in some sort of cyberpunky, Blade Runner-esque future, then I'm basically going to be the happiest person in the world.
In the words of Ziggy from Quantum Leap, oh boy.
@ApostateMage *Sam
Oooh Aaah Cantona
Hm, not a fan of this developer. So I'll probably skip it.
However I'm interested to see what the reception will be, since sci-fi RPGs are quite rare, especially on console, compared to Fantasy stuff.
I feel like it is easier for a developer to mess-up a sci-fi RPG than a Fantasy RPG. In a Fantasy game you can always fall back on traditional generic stuff and people will still be happy with it, but with sci-fi you have to be more inventive.
@BowTiesAreCool Oops! Yeah, Sam.
he was probably listening to missy Elliott I can't stand the rain.beep beep who got the keys to my jeep.hahaha word up son
My all time favourite movie is Blade Runner and for the longest time I've wanted an open world either set in it or a world similar to it. Dark, rainy, smokey, neon drenched cyberpunk cityscape with you surrounded by weird, wonderful and dangerous characters. If CD Projekt Red can take their dedication, talent and craft in story, world building and compelling characters from The Witcher to this...then god!!!
@adf86 Did you like Blade Runner 2049? The movie is awesome and so underrated, imo.
@PS_Nation It's the best thing that happened last year.
@adf86 I know, right? It's potentially the video games I've always wanted.
@PS_Nation Considering I was non plussed by the idea of sequel originally but I was amazed at how good it was. I just never truly believed Hollywood would put so much money behind a Sci Fi film that was a sequel to one that wasn't all that successful and allow a new director to tell his own story with it's own themes yet didn't step on the toes of the original. It was amazing.
@Jake3103 I had similar feelings when I saw No Mans Sky for the first time, taking that game in insolation it still had good things going for it but it wasn't the "dream" space game I maybe hoped it could be. Granted CD Projekt Red have a bigger pedigree but like I say if this game can offer me a Blade Runner like world to get lost in then to say I'll be hyped doesn't begin to cover it.
@Octane One of the best movies made recently.
I would like a game with cyberpunk settings and cyber ninjas like Gray Fox.
Torn on this. Witcher 3 has a great story and deep characterization but pretty garbage gameplay. Not sure I can force myself through another CD Projekt Red game.
