It’s been a while since we heard anything about Final Fantasy VII Remake after the project was rebooted internally, but Square Enix has debuted some new artwork as part of a 30th anniversary exhibition in Tokyo. The images – photographed by press prior to the show opening – reveal Midgar, as well as the iconic church area.
The publisher recently said that Final Fantasy VII Remake is making “progress”, but that’s about the most meaningful update we’ve had on the game in almost a year.

I've said it before and I'll say it again I believe the FF7 remake and the The Winds of Winter book will see a 2018 release. I am an optimist by nature.
The artwork looks beautiful and I am looking forward to playing the game.

I try to be optimistic but I just can't with Squeenix's recent record. If Advent Children Cloud takes over then this game is going to be a disappointment on No Man's Sky's level for JRPG fans.
It will be out when its ready. Simple as. I wouldnt want them to rush it out and botch it. They have said we will see more this year so let's see what that brings. 2019 is the earliest i see this being released
At this point, it'll show up when it's ready. At least there's plenty of games in the meantime.

If there’s a full version of the game w all episodes in one disc or something of that nature I’ll think about it til then scew this game...
@Derpie1 That won't happen, each "episode" is a full game.
@john_c Winds of Winter in 2018!? Nope. GRRM has writer's block. I don't think it will EVER come out, honestly, which may not be a bad thing considering how bad book 5 was.

Why are their games announced so many years before an actual release??New artwork?Yeah they look nice but seriously..big deal.It wouldn't be so bad if it was one game..but knowing they are only working on the first of three,I'll most likely be in my sixties or dead before we see the final game.
But then again,it's not like you will hear me moaning..got plenty of great games to play in the meantime..
Honestly, I'm looking forward to this one very much, but there's too many good JRPGs on PS4 I haven't played yet, and there's a lot coming up this year still.
So, I don't really have time to complain about waiting on this one.
Is this artwork from the remake or the reboot of the remake?
This is going to be one of the last big games of this generation, theres no way this is coming out this year, I'd love to be proven wrong but I reckon Mid-to-Late 2019 or early 2020.
I think they will rush it to complete all 3 in PS4s lifespan, then it will be re-released for PS5, which is probably when I will pick it up - all as one package, patched up, with bonus content and all that.
I'm much more concerned it will be an incomplete, incoherent mess like FF15 than when it will actually arrive.
That green in the mako reactor brings back good memories.
