Following the confirmation of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2, the new Streamlined Progression settings included in the port have now been announced for PS5.
These new options will be patched into the PS5 version upon the launch of the two upcoming versions, which have been scheduled in for 3rd June 2026. These features are mostly the same as what Final Fantasy 7 Remake received when it was also ported to other systems, but there's a new one on top: the ability to set your damage to 9,999 in the minigames.

Here's the full list of the Streamlined Progression options:
- Constant Max HP
- Constant Max MP
- Limit Gauge Always Full
- Constant Max Synergy
- ATB Gauge Always Full
- Constant Max Damage
- Max Damage: Minigames
- 2x EXP & 3x AP Gain
- Easy Weapon Ability Acquisition
- More Materials Collected
- Constant Max Gil
- Constant Max Recovery Items
- Max Materia Levels
As of yesterday, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth also received a permanent price drop, bringing it in line with what Square Enix is charging for the ports. It's now £49.99 / $49.99 on the PS Store.
It's worth noting Trophies in Final Fantasy 7 Remake were largely unaffected when it got the Streamlined Progression update, so this patch for Rebirth could make obtaining its Platinum Trophy considerably easier for you. Will you go back and unlock as a result of this future update? Let us know in the comments below.

Brilliant. While I wouldn't personally want to use them on my first playthrough they do make replaying long games like this MUCH faster and more appealing.
But I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting to fast track SOME of the OTT side quests in this game and make it a better overall experience. Play how you want.
This is how the developers originally envisioned we play the game.
Where is the cheat to instantly win the gym mini game? Haha.
The one thing that made me give up on going for the Platinum.
@SoulChimera I had no problem with the gym game... playing against rude and Helena in the GS battle (i think story) on hard was another matter.
IF I still have my save, I'll give it a go again when it comes up.
Us folks that got the plat the hard way should be immortalized in some way.
@Slideaway1983 I don’t know what it was, I just couldn’t get it done. Must have tired about 50 times. I’ve done pretty much everything else. Maybe I’ll give it another go.
@DonkeyFantasy They're helpful if they put a Rockwall boss into things. I spent 2 hours attempting the pixel-perfect timing on Leviathan on XVI at the weekend. Some cheats would have been helpful.
I gave up on bothering with the platinum for Rebirth about a billion hours into it because it was too boring, and I'm not sure, even with cheats, it would be worth it. Such a slog.
Does the final fantasy 7 remake cheats help with that horrible motorbike mini game? That was the only thing blocking me from getting platinum, it was an absolute nightmare 😤
Cue the crying from babies at how their precious platinum is now rendered worthless.
Can I get a cheat to turn pop-in off?
Thanks.
@SoulChimera Just gotta really get into a rhythm with it. I think, by time I managed it, I wasnt even watching the screen, so much as just trying to internalise the count of when to push / hold buttons.
Elated to see this course correction. The obvious thing to do would have been to not require the needlessly tedious battle arena slop or pointlessly restrictive Hard mode requirements for the trophy list in the first place, but at least they’re fixing those mistakes. I’ve done them already, this doesn’t affect me personally speaking, but it’s nice for my fellow trophy hunting bretheren to be able to have a now-competently curated platinum to work toward, one where the devs acknowledge our time is more valuable than their personal opinion(s) on what should be required for certain trophy unlocks. Hopefully they design a better list for part 3 or at least incorporate these ‘trash trophy workarounds’ into that game at launch.
@Balaam_ I hate it when they incorp HARD mode trophies in the main list why couldn't they do what Spiderman did and offset it under a side list. End of the day I agree peoples time isnt precious and some like myself seriously dont have the time to game as much as I did years ago.
I should be able to play at my own pace and what difficulty I want
Probably won't use these, but I appreciate the option making its way to PS5 anyway. But if they're going out of their way to add these features, shouldn't they have done it for the first game too?
@SoulChimera its the timing... often feels random but like any other rhythm game, there's a "zone" that you just get like tunnel vision. I think like the gs fighting robot game I spent a day doing it; so it can be done.
Ironically except for chadleys vr missions, johnnys items and the hard playthrough (as it said, I was stuck on a fight, and unlike hell house - my main problem in remake on hard - after a week or so i just couldnt break it.
I'm guessing because I was rushing to get to certain beats to clean up trophies on my hard playthrough, I missed an extra mat or weapon maybe I needed. Can't remember how my build was.
But anyway; if youve took a solid break, which may be nearly 2 years now, try and go back to it. Nor saying you have to get frustrated again, but sometimes a break is as good as a rest and all the gubbins- your muscle memory may have adapted over time without realising and you may be able to give it a go.
you can do it!
@KayFiOS they did 🤣
Its ok, I skim read too! 🤪
What I'm gonna do closer to the 3rd games release (like I did with the 1st game closer to the 2nd) is jump back in for the plat and if there is something literally ruining the last 1% needed, I'll use em.
The idea is that if I'm 100%ing the game I should ideally be strong enough for the post game / new game + content, but if something stupidly annoying exists still I'll use it.
At same time, do u think I should use the following to help potentially cut down some time sink / grinding?
2x EXP & 3x AP Gain
Easy Weapon Ability Acquisition
More Materials Collected
And the thing is, don't you already have 2x EXP & 3x AP Gain on post game, so unless this lets you double it up?
@DonkeyFantasy They’re great for a 3rd play through on another platform (this time PC) just to get all caught up again to prepare for the last game of the series.
I played FF7 Remake on PS4, Intergrade on PS5, and got the FF7R Bundle on PC. So the cheats make the “slow parts” easier to tolerate after doing it right 2 times already.
I also played Rebirth on PS5 and will probably use these cheats on PC just to breeze through the story as I already went through the effort of doing it the right way.
But, yeah, I’d recommend only using them if you’re totally stuck on something if it’s a first playthrough. 👍
@SoulChimera try turning off the background music if you haven't already (just for that bit of course, not the whole superb soundtrack!) only way I could do it was without that distraction
Spent nearly 120 hours in my 1st playthrough. Will do the new game + trophy along with the brutal VR challenges which as a working adult take way too much time of practice and dumb luck to beat.
These boosters will make it a pleasant 2nd playthrough
They should disable trophies it's silly that they don't. The whole point of the platinum is to earn it through effort.
An excellent development for people who don’t want to learn the game and those who want a fast platinum alike. Clearly this is how Square-Enix always intended these games be played.
