Max: The Curse of Brotherhood, an Xbox One exclusive published by Microsoft Studios a few years back, is coming to the PlayStation 4. With the Danish developer Press Play shuttered by the manufacturer last year, successor Flashbulb Games has been given the greenlight to port the puzzle platformer to Sony’s system. It’ll launch later this year.
“Max: The Curse of Brotherhood is a cinematic fairy-tale adventure perfect for the whole family to enjoy,” reads the blurb. “Where Scandinavian storytelling meets colourful 2.5D platformer, Max offers perspective players classic jump and run gameplay, smart and innovative puzzles and a fun and unique gameplay mechanic to boot.”
The title will be available both digitally and physically, with Wired Productions handling the retail release. It’s interesting to see this game arrive on PS4 as it was, like we say, originally published by Microsoft Studios – but we suppose this kind of thing has been happening quite a lot of late, hasn’t it?

I got this when I bought my first XB1 at launch and it's a fun little game but very short, it can easily be completed in 1-2 hours and it will be one of the easiest games you'll platinum.
@MaccaMUFC Easy Platinum you say?
@get2sammyb Well if you follow a guide then yeah definitely, I unlocked every Achievement in one sitting within a few hours.
I wonder if we will ever see Horizon Zero Dawn or Days Gone on an Xbox one day? A man can dream.
@MaccaMUFC I doubt it.
@MaccaMUFC I looked that up on my favorite XB achievements site, for all 36 achievements the guide says it takes around 7-12 hrs.
Would love Splosion and Ms Splosion Man to come to PlayStation as well, heck why not Sunset Overdrive too.
I loved the original Max & the Magic Marker on Wii. Definitely interested in this.
I didn't really take to the game when MS gave it away free as a GwG. Its harmless enough but not my thing. I couldn't care less if a game like this is no longer an Exclusive and its not the first time - Limbo springs to mind too. If it means more games for more people 'great'.
It won't stop me enjoying my Pro and Project Scorpio and the games I want to play on either. Its not like 'Max' is a 'console seller'
@SMKpaladin Yeah I actually may have over exaggerated how quick I got the 1000GS, just checked the game info and I clocked in 12hrs and 34mins (I do take my time in games too, not rushing through them) I just remember unlocking so many achievements in one sitting but finishing the game without hunting trophies will still only take 1-2 hours.
Makes me wonder if the same thing could happen to Cuphead.
One step closer to Sunset Overdrive on PS4?
@shonenjump86 I dont think cuphead 1 is ever going to make it to ps4, but IIRC I remember reading the small team of devs actually bought the IP back from Microsoft so that cuphead 2 could be multi platform. either way i am buying a 2nd hand xbone for cuphead and state of decay 2 when they release
@bbtothe I hear ya. Cuphead is Day 1 buy when it hits Xbox One for me.
We really should all start using quotation marks when talking about Xbox "exclusives."
@johncalmc If that's the case then we should all use quotation marks when talking about PS "exclusives" that are on PS Now. And what's ironic is that some of these PS "exclusives" are on Microsoft's OS.
