Okay, so we're a bit late to the party on this one, but we only recently got around to playing Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel and Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II on Vita. The third game in the series, unsurprisingly titled Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III, is making the jump to PlayStation 4 later this year in Japan, and it'll likely get localised at some point in 2018.
Unlike many sequels these days, the second and third titles are actually direct sequels, meaning that they take place after the events of the previous game and carry on the story. In other words, to get the full experience, you need to play through the whole saga. That may seem a little daunting, but it does allow developer Falcom to dish out an expansive narrative full of returning characters and plot lines.
Naturally, with the third game coming to PS4, many fans have been asking for the first two titles to be ported to the current-gen console. Trails of Cold Steel was recently released on PC, so it's certainly not out of the question.
Adding fuel to the fire, Falcom essentially asked fans on Twitter if it should bring the PS3 and Vita titles over to PS4. As you'd expect, the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
For those out of the loop, the Trails of Cold Steel games are Japanese RPGs that place a focus on character interactions. They're well written and pleasantly paced, and we'd love to pen a couple of positive reviews if we ever get the time to do so.

I tried the first Coldsteel game on the PS3, frankly I don't see what all the hubbub is about. Nothing about the game particularly stood out for me.
What anime is this based on?
@nagas3000 It isn't based on any anime. It looks generic as hell but it's a lot deeper and more interesting than its style suggests.
What's the game story, is it heavy on combat/dungeon or story?
I bought both for the Vita for my birthday a few months ago. They're on my to-play list after I finish Trails in the Sky: SC so I doubt I would rebut them for the PS4. Giving more people access to the series can only be a good thing, however.
easily best rpg ever.word up son
Falcom love to take generic tropes and turn them on their head, probably the best world-builders in the genre right now. A port gives more people the chance to play their games, and you all should.
Where can i preorder is my question.
Wouldnt rebuy as I don't have time, but I am currently on my first play through of trails of cold steel on vita and after a slow start am really enjoying it. About 15 hours in and think there is a long way to go yet. Have the sequel ready to go once I finish.
Makes complete sense to bring 1 and 2 to Ps4 given trails 3 is coming out on the platform so supportive of Falcom's plans here.
Disappointed that the third game isnt coming to Vita. But completely understand the reasons why
@wiiware Very heavy on character dialogue and interactions. It has dungeons and areas with monsters like your typical JRPGs, so it's not a visual novel or anything like that. Combat is turn based and kind of tactical. Really solid mix of gameplay, all things considered.
The graphics look like there designed for 10 year olds.
Yea the graphics look a little weak, but the story and gameplay are awesome. I played both on Vita and put in a combined 150 hours. Excellent JRPG's if you're into them. Really cool turn based battle system with a lot going on. Love it
I'll try them out if they do come to PS4 since it sounds like you guys like them.
More RPGs the better bring them all over
@KratosMD best rpg ever kratos
Omg yes please !!!! I always wanted to get them for my vita but I'd prefer a Jrpg on my console !!! Trails is so good
Loved the first one so much but never picked up the second due mainly to backlog and the fact I hardly use my ps3 anymore so bring it to the ps4 and I'll buy it
Love the first game. Currently 57hours into the second. Playing on the ps vita.
Great story. Great battle system (without being to complicated).
Yes please ! Been meaning to play this and deff nump in there
One of my favorite Vita games. Took 120 hours to beat CS1.
trails in the sky is one of my favourites! Cold steel is better than I expected it to be though...it's like suikoden meets persona. I'd welcome some kind of box set / compilation on ps4...
Yeah, it could. Unlike III on Vita at this point, it seems. Oh well, #InSwitchWeTrust
Haven't played these games yet but they have been on my radar for a while, think it's a good idea to bring them to ps4 but I will be trying them on vita because I prefer longer games on a handheld system
