The previous PlayStation 4 free multiplayer weekend may not have quite worked out, but this time Sony's putting on a proper event. The platform holder has announced that from 06:00AM GMT on Friday, 13th February right the way through to 06:00AM GMT on Monday, 16th February, you won't need an active PlayStation Plus subscription to take your next-gen system online.
While this sounds like a net positive, there will be some stipulations. For example, this free period will grant you access to multiplayer only, so you'll need to stump up for a subscription if you want in on the Instant Game Collection, cloud storage, and PlayStation Store discounts. There's also no word just yet on whether this will apply to North America, but we'll update when we find out for sure.
In the meantime, will you be taking advantage of this complimentary game time? Tell us what's on your online agenda in the comments section below.

Do enough people have multiplayer games that require PS+, that dont have it? I would thibk if multiplayer was your thing, you would already be subscribed...
Bolt those 3 days onto the end of my subscription please Sony. Thanks...
@thedevilsjester I think it's only half of the install base that are actively subscribed. The numbers are out there, but I can't find them.
@Maxamus Why? You're still getting extra perks.
@Maxamus that's what I thought, loyalty bonus etc
@get2sammyb Extra perks?
Im on the fence about this myself.
On the one hand you have a lot of people able to have a pop at your fave games online for free if you dont normally.
On the other hand you have no real test of ps plus as a whole and as @thedevilsjester said prior, youd likely already be a subscriber if you like multiplayer gaming.
@get2sammyb yeah but thats pretty apparent that the other half doesnt care about online games or they would have subscribed. You might catch a few that have an offline game with a multiplayer mode, but its doubtful that these people without ps+ have been purchasing online games. I dont see very many making use of this.
Reminds me of those Gold trials Microsoft used to do for Xbox Live. They'd call it a gold trial but your account would still be Silver, effectively locking you out of everything but playing games online.
Double Valor weekend for Shadow Fall too!
