Where would we be without graphics comparison videos? Er, we're not entirely sure, but we certainly wouldn't be comparing the visual prowess of an upcoming PlayStation 4 release to the original PSP version.
Hitting Sony's newest console this year, Final Fantasy Type-0 HD unsurprisingly looks much better than it did on the old handheld, but if you need proof, then feast your eyes on the new comparison trailer that Square Enix has released. To be fair, it looks like the developer has done a great job with the re-release, as at times, it looks incredibly pretty, and approximately a thousand times smoother — jaggies be damned.
What do you make of the difference? Are you impressed, or are you still seething that this isn't coming to Vita? Forge a new world in the comments section below.

Can't wait to play this! This is one of the main reasons I got my PS4 X3
Though, is it confirmed that FFXV's Episode Duscae demo comes with digital PSN copies or not?
I think if we can't get the HD version for vita can we at least get the psp version I really don't care about trophies and I just got a 64 gb for Xmas and now it's full lol I need a new memory card lol
Fine, I'll forgive the ridiculous wait.
My reaction: "Damn, the PSP version looks nice!"
I'm pretty impressed. From what I can tell it may not exactly be PS4 quality, but I'm not complaining. I'm happy it's getting localised. It's probably one of my more anticipated games.
Wow the psp did pretty good for hardware from 2004.
Wow the PS4 version is definitely better...now to just be patient until I can own a PS4 lol.
@Kage_88 yeah, while the PS4 version is far better, the PSP version is quite nice. This is SquareEnix though, eye candy is their baliwick and to be expected.
@Kage_88
I know right? I was like dang, that was one good looking PSP game! Some comparison shots I barely even noticed a difference...
SE really have done a great job here, the level of improvement is phenomenal. Shame about the time it took for a Western release, and the lack of a Vita version. But still, shut up and take my money!
Not really that impressive.
they did a lot more work than I thought they would, it's looking pretty good
@FullbringIchigo
That's true, I guess what we see here could be considered 'work' from SquareEnix. Too bad they can't be bothered to do even this for the FF re-release people have been begging for. Instead they give a garbage PC port. Pathetic company.
@Gamer83
You can't compare the scope of type- 0 with a huge game like FFVII; it would need a complete overhaul and therefore a team the size of the current FFXV team. Squeenix isn't in the position to bring out a game like that at this moment and only if FFXV is extremely succesfull they might be able to invest in that remake...but my guess is they won't, unless the PC version released on PS4 sells like crazy.
Every asset needs to be put in a new engine and all the CGI work, which is way more expensive as it was back then, need to be redone. Just in terms of CGI it will probably cost them $80 million to get it up to date, so I can't believe we'll ever see FFVII or a game like that for that matters again.
FFXV will likely cost them lots of money, money they try to win back by milking fans with releases like type-0; a game that exists purely because it comes with a demo of the game most people are excited about, doesn't deserve a spot in the limelight.
I was interested in picking this one up, dont think I'll like the plot though. Combat looks nice but a bit confusing.
I'd totally buy the PSP version for Vita if they just add the better controls. Couldnt care less about the FFXV demo.
@Gamer83
Yea I remember the SNES days when everything SquareSoft released was pure gold. And they (mostly) kept it going up through FFX.
Then came FFXI. Ugh. Once they went MMO & turned into SquareEnix, it all went downhill. They are the posterchild for how Japanese gaming has taken a (mostly) downturn for the worse.
And the fact that they won't make the FFVII remake because it would take more work to do is ridiculous. They would make a king's ransom with that remake & I am shocked they haven't yet. Hell, they re-release every FF game on every system anyways, clearly showing that they aren't above whoring & milking the past for all it's worth. Why not give us the remake that we all actually WANT?
