It’s been a long time since we heard anything about Tekken X Street Fighter. The elusive brawler, which was originally announced back in 2010, appears to have been put on the backburner of late – but director Katsuhiro Harada did indicate recently that development would be switching to the PlayStation 4. Now, speaking with Korean website Inven, he’s hinted that production is actually progressing well.
“Tekken X Street Fighter’s base system is already finished,” he beamed, “but we still have to finish Tekken 7 and its planned updates first.” With the next mainline entry in Bandai Namco’s premium fighting property due out next year, it doesn’t sound like we’ll be seeing this until 2016 at the earliest. It is nice, however, to know that the project hasn’t been scrapped – especially when Street Fighter X Tekken failed to set the world alight.
In fact, with Street Fighter V also on the way, Harada concluded that the company’s currently planning a re-reveal strategy that won’t conflict with either series’ primary games. To be honest, though, we suspect that that will entail not mentioning it for a few more years. Are you still keen on the idea of this crossover, or do you reckon that it’s a concept that should be KO’d? Throw a fireball into the comments section below.

Just what my PS4 needed! I love me some Tekken and it'll be interesting to see how Street Fighter movesets are adapted to the Tekken engine. →▲+■ Hadouken?
THANK GOODNESS! I would really like to see how SF is like in Tekken's full 3D fighting system.
Whoa! Does this still exist? So now they are working on this, Tekken 7 and Pokken at the same time?
@sinalefa And they just got done assisting Ningendo with Snash Bros. Busy Busy Busy
Holy crap, I forgot this even existed. With this still in development, Namco and Harada are really gonna work themselves ragged.
As long as this turns out better than SFxT did, I'm happy.
I just don't see it working well but hopefully they do a good job of it
I thought this was cancelled long ago. Nice to see it wasn't.
Wow, I forgot about this. Namco is making a lot of fighting games now.
