PlayStation 4 Sale

We had expected the PlayStation 4’s price to settle in sub-£300 territory by Boxing Day, but Sony seems utterly determined to maintain its market share in Britain this Christmas. As such, GameStop UK has now dropped the price of the standalone Glacier White system to £299.97, which is considerably cheaper than its RRP.

This is just the latest in a long line of promotions on Sony’s system of late, with GAME also lining up some outrageous bundles online. This has all led to speculation that the Japanese giant may be about to drop the price of its console on these shores, but we reckon that it’ll be happy simply watching retailers compete.

Still, the situation does make the platform holder’s silence in North America seem a little strange. Microsoft had the most success with the Xbox 360 in the UK and the United States, so we’re surprised that SCEA has allowed the Redmond-based manufacturer to release a slew of seriously cheap holiday bundles in the USA uncontested.

Perhaps it still yet has a master plan hidden up its sleeve...
