Those searching for an excuse to return to Los Santos this holiday season will find one in the PlayStation 4 port of Grand Theft Auto V next month – and it’s available to pre-order from the North American PlayStation Store right now. Sony previously promised that there’d be an extra incentive for its own loyal fanbase, and that’s materialised today in the form of, well, an additional $300K to spend in Grand Theft Auto Online. Hooray?
In truth, this is framed as a very specific PlayStation Store bonus, so perhaps it will be accompanied by something more meaningful. It’s worth mentioning that you’ll also get $500K for the single player and multiplayer modes courtesy of Rockstar Games, as those are the re-release’s stock pre-order bonuses. Still, we can’t help but feel that it’s all just a bit bland, honestly – especially with SEGA dishing out Sigourney Weaver DLC for Alien: Isolation.
Then again, it’s not like people aren’t going to buy this port in their droves, regardless of the rubbish purchase incentives. We suppose that that’s part of the problem, right?

It's been typical of Sony, in 2014, to overpromise and under deliver. At the end of the day, PS4 is selling like hotcakes, and yeah, GTA V is going to sell like hotcakes. Neither Sony or Rockstar need to do sh*t. Just watch the money roll in. At some point Sony will need to clean up its act though.
Love the article title. I named my pittbull Shirley after Shirley Manson back in the 90's.
" it’s not like people aren’t going to buy this port in their droves..." that is the problem. People are buying into brands TOO MUCH! It's realy hurting consumerism. If rockstar made a good game great, then buy GTA V again.
They had a weak online release before, better graphics isn't going to make online fun. They seriously need help with the MP component.
I'll be saving $60 and 50 GB of space next month.
I would not buy again. I mean don't get me wrong I enjoyed my playthrough but haven't had much desire to play it through again.
@wittypixel No your right in what you say, but 30 player online and extra stuff to do will all help!!.
I've pre-ordered this game, like others have said GTA V will be number one at Christmas and will sell loads, sony and R* really do only have to sit back and watch the money counter go mental!! Watch Dogs was Rubbish in my eyes and they shall see a true game roll in...... GTA V
It actually blows my mind to think how much this game is going to sell once it's all said and done and released on next gen and pc... in my opinion it really deserves it though. I'm definitely buying it again, can't wait to beat the campaign again! I daresay nothing is going to beat this game in sales for a long, long time... well probably not until gta 6 lol
No incentive they give will get me to buy a game I supported and bought already and still relatively recently.
Not interested. Finished the story on PS3 and never touched it again. Used to love GTA, but haven't really enjoyed one since Vice City. I find them quite tedious now. You get a few 'samey' missions, padded out with huge amounts of driving from A to B... it's really mostly filler, in a similar way to Destiny's grinding boss sections. Doesn't really matter how pretty it looks on PS4, it's the same game underneath.
I'd actually recommend Just Cause 2 over GTA. I'd say is much more fun, still looks great, and is dirt cheap. The helicopters are actually flyable, too; those in GTA V were needlessly complicated.
It will do well but I don't really care? Bargain bin for me. Christmas 2016.
I was hoping you were gonna say some sort of garbage truck related missions or something still crappy, but better than what it actually is!
Preorder for ps3 a year ago was equally lame. You could fly the blimp..hurray...
I liked the idea of this thriving online community where you could buy stocks, do some missions with friends, rob some banks for big bucks, and mess around when not doing these things and let your money work for you. Sadly, this never happened. I had to rank up, repeatedly run the same missions over and over for barely any cash, then, when i found a way to efficiently just grind for cash, they removed a lot of the ways to do so. I then was burning money left and right having a good time with friends, in our own lobby, doing what we enjoyed, all the while losing fistfulls of cash until it got to the point where we couldnt go wild and crazy because we were out of cash. We all understood this, and have been incredibly patient waiting for heists (which lets be real, theres no way with the booming industry of shark cards anyone is walking out of a heist with more than 30k), but we all wondered why no party mode? Just straight up, run around blow things up, weapons on the ground, messing around. A simple addition that would have made us not feel like r* was really pushing thos shark cards on us. I loved the campaign, and want to replay it, so i will most likely buy it again, but online still after a year, has a lot to do to win me back over
I was so disappointed with gta V. Technically it was amazibg the fact they made the city so big and look so good on ps3. I also like the idea of swappin characters and the way they achived it was also very good. But i found the story to be all over the place and the fact that ***SPOILERS**** you never make any bloody money till you do the last mission was ridiculous and then what can you do with it?? Buy a few buildings that add a couple of chase missions. I much prefered the online game where at least you got a few dollars for missions and stuff. Michael wal was badly written trevor was amazing insane but felt more like a mission giver type from previous games also felt that he was deliberately written to be as offensive and crazy as possible n just seemed like they were trying to hard. And franklin could of been interesting if he had been given a personality.
Gonna wait for a huge price drop or hopefully free via PS+
@wittypixel Sup buddy, To be honest me and my friends have had hours of fun with GTA V online. Infact the online side is where we spend most of out time.
GTA V actually broke my PS3 due to making it overheat, although from what I here I wasn't the only PlayStation owner to have this issue.
Sony have made a great little system with the PS4 but thats my worry. The PS4 is so slim that the air doesn't flow aswell as it does in the X1 and because of this the PS4 can get very hot at times. You only have to play Killzone Shadow Fall for a couple of hours to experience this issue and that was the first game to release on the system. Even The Last of Us and Metro Redux start the PS4 to really heat up and they were last gen games. Whats going to happen when developers really start pushing the PS4?
I missed out on it last year so I'm really excited to finally play it next month.
@Ps4all Nice! I love Shirley Manson.
@WARDIE Hey what's up man, and you're right. They're really milking thee consoles for every ounce of power. for better or worse, and I was stuck on GTA V too! Loved online but it won't matter. They needed a lot more new content. It got dull really fast and there were so many glitches, took them 2-3 months to fix all of them! That left a horrible taste in the mouths of the gaming community
@Midzark 30 player won't entice me and it really depends what this "extra stuff" is. But I'm not buying it again. They really screwed people with GTA Online and having us suffer with the hundreds of bugs and connectivity issues.
People re buying are setting a really bad precendent, This game was not ready (at least the online part) and shouldn't have been released yet.
The real question is: are preorder bonuses what makes gamers pick up the game or not? Personnaly, I doubt it... it could come out barebones and nobody would cry out "where's my preorder bonuses!"
The game is AAA material and it is quite easy to earn money in GTA5 so an extra amount at the start of the game isn't a huge incentive to pick up a copy but it's better than nothing at all too.
@KillTheG1mp
If it's a game I'm really looking forward to, I'll pre-order regardless, but a nice bonus for doing so is always welcome.
@BigDaddyT0101 yup, online gaming isnt about fun anymore. Its just grinding. I think after 20hours of online play you shouldve unlocked everything the game has to offer
@Paranoimia Just Cause 2 is an amazing game, in my opinion it gives you the best sandbox to play in of any open world game. That said, I love Gta for the humor and the story.
@SilentJ I missed it last year as well. Can't wait!
