DriveClub PS4

How we’d love to be a fly on the wall at Evolution Studios right now. DriveClub’s launch has quite possibly been the biggest disaster since... Well, that comparison’s ugly and inappropriate, so we won’t go there. The point is, though, that a game sold on its network functionality should be playable online right now, so the fact that it’s still a mess is a good ol’ kick in the teeth.

As we’ve stressed before, we fully understand that server hiccups like this can occur, but the key when it does happen is a fast response and plenty of communication. At least the Runcorn-based developer’s got the latter down now, posting daily briefings on its Facebook page. That won’t come as an enormous amount of consolation to those still waiting to play their game, though.

“During the next 24 hours, we are running essential diagnostics to help us improve the performance of the servers,” a studio spokesperson said today. “This may disrupt online play for you when you do get connected.” Perhaps that should read 'if you get connected'. “We’re sorry that we don't have more news to share right now, but we will keep working hard to get you all up and running online as quickly as we can.”

To be honest, our disappointment has almost drifted into apathy at this point. Are you still eager to play the cursed exclusive racer, or has your attention wandered elsewhere? Try to start your engine in the comments section below.
