Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

Scoffing fast food and going to the gym could be about to get entertaining again, as speculation suggests that Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas may be getting the re-release treatment on the PlayStation 3. The title launched as a PlayStation 2 Classic some time ago, but Rockstar Games has since pulled that version from the PlayStation Store.

To add fuel to the oversized fire, a bunch of Xbox 360 achievements have popped up around the web, which have been scraped directly from Microsoft’s servers. These pertain to various activities from the game, with each virtual award attached to a unique piece of artwork. It’s unlikely that the proposed update will be an exclusive, so some kind of high definition remaster for the PS3 looks likely right now.

This, of course, would be absolutely excellent news, as the series’ third PS2 instalment remains, for many, the absolute pinnacle of the popular property. There was a ridiculous amount of busywork – as is so common in Rockstar releases these days – but we reckon that it absolutely nailed the concept of sandbox silliness. We can’t imagine it holding up too well today, though.
