"The name's Bond, James Bond"

As James Bond’s 50th anniversary nears, Activision has announced plans to celebrate the suave spy’s illustrious history with 007 Legends this Fall.

The title — which is in development at GoldenEye 007: Reloaded studio Eurocom — aims to pull together missions from six classic Bond movies and fuse them into an “original storyline”. Scenes from upcoming movie Skyfall will also be referenced.

Activision’s David Oxford explained:

To honor 50 years of the world’s top secret agent, 007 Legends offers a collection of his most famed moments in the smartest and most treacherous Bond game yet.

Creating a video game storyline that ties together six popular, yet very different, Bond movie narratives can be challenging, but together with EON Productions, our developer Eurocom, has pulled it off to create an homage that we think will be a unique and highly entertaining Bond video game.

Legends will mark the return of the “fan favourite” single-player Mi6 Ops Missions which debuted in last year’s GoldenEye 007: Reloaded. Here you’ll be able to play as one of Bond’s friends or foes, “reliving the missions through their eyes, as well as 007′s”.

Naturally, multiplayer will support split-screen as well as online play, with weapons and maps inspired by Bond’s 50 years of service.

The game’s due out later this year on PS3. It's a strange concept, but seeing as we’re willing to lap up anything 007 related (even the awful Quantum of Solace), we’ll be keeping a close eye on this one.

Which movies would you like to see form the inspiration for 007 Legends' campaign?
