In Saros, if you want to collect all Trophies and get the platinum, you'll need to know about Nightmare Gates. The Trophy named Nightmare Strands requires that you enter every one and beat them all, but what are these things and how do you enter them?

As part of our Saros guide, we're going to explain all you need to know about Nightmare Gates.

How to Enter Nightmare Gates in Saros

As you explore each biome, you may come across something called a Nightmare Strand on your map.

Nightmare Strands are effectively what lead you to Nightmare Gates, which are particularly tough (but optional) challenges that lead to valuable rewards — if you survive.

In the world, these Nightmare Gates look like a pair of hands coming out of the ground, with the gateway between them.

On your map, they're symbolised by a skull-shaped icon with an exclamation mark in it.

Sometimes, when you find a Nightmare Strand, it's powered down, and doesn't have an active Nightmare Gate for you to traverse. This is because they only open up once you have enabled the Eclipse.

When the Eclipse is active, you will be able to pass through the Nightmare Gate.

Complete the challenging enemy encounters within, and you'll be handily rewarded — plus you'll work towards that Nightmare Strands Trophy.
