A core part of what makes Saros unique is the Eclipse — a key part of the game's aesthetic, but also a key part of its gameplay. But what exactly is the Eclipse, and what does it do? As part of our Saros guide, we're going to explain all about the Eclipse.

What Is the Eclipse in Saros?

The Eclipse is a big part of the narrative in Saros, but it's the gameplay implications that will be of most interest as you progress through the game.

In every biome in Saros, you will come across an alien-looking device, with hands surrounding a glowing ball. Hold Triangle in front of it, and you'll activate the Eclipse.

The Eclipse alters the look and feel of the environment around you, but more importantly, it makes it much more hazardous.

Once the Eclipse is active, enemies will be tougher to fight and you may run into more environmental hazards.

What's more, enemies will fire Corrupted projectiles. Corrupted projectiles are yellow, and if they hit you (even with your Shield up), they don't deal damage; instead, they reduce your max health. You can cleanse some of this Corruption by firing your Power Weapon.

Why Activate the Eclipse in Saros?

The main reason to enable the Eclipse in Saros is because you have to if you want to get through a biome. There are set points in each zone where you cannot progress further unless the Eclipse begins.

However, one major benefit of having the Eclipse active is that Lucenite becomes much more valuable. Any Lucenite you collect will give you more than usual, and this resource is super important for your run but also for permanent progression.

In some later biomes, you will have more than one opportunity to activate the Eclipse. Activating it earlier means it'll generally be a harder run, but it may also open up Side Paths that would otherwise be blocked off, leading you to more rewards.

Is the Eclipse Required in Saros?

Yes, the Eclipse is compulsory to activate in every biome in Saros. You'll need to enable it in order to reach the end of each area and defeat the boss. There's no way around it.

So, that's the Eclipse in Saros. Tell us what you think of this mechanic in the comments section below, and check out our Saros guide for more.
