Below you will find all Act 1 COG Tags Locations, revealing where to find them across the 8 chapters. Not every chapter has a COG Tag, but we'll list all chapters so you know of any collectibles to look out for, or if you can relax and enjoy the game.

14 Years After E-Day

There are 3 COG Tags to find in 14 Years After E-Day. We share descriptions and screenshots of their locations below.

COG Tag #1

• As soon as you start the game, you'll be asked whether you want to take part in Combat or Training
• No matter which one you pick, walk into the room ahead of you
• Look for the red Gears of War icon on the rubble, and the COG Tag will be in front of it

COG Tag #2

• When you enter the next large room full of enemies, you'll kill them all and then another wave will enter by cutting down the door
• In the back of this room, look underneath the staircase to find the COG Tag

COG Tag #3

• As soon as you get back outside through the hole in the wall the enemies made, go up the small staircase to your left
• You'll find the COG Tag in the corner on your left

Trial by Fire

There are 2 COG Tags to find in Trial by Fire. We share descriptions and screenshots of their locations below.

COG Tag #1

• At the start of the chapter, go up one of the two big staircases and turn left inside the building
• Defeat the enemies that appear, then search behind the cover they were using to find the COG Tag

COG Tag #2

• You'll reach a checkpoint where you're given a new objective to check some bodies next to an Emergence Hole
• Inside the next building you enter, where another two Emergence Holes open up, look to the left of the exit to find the COG Tag on the floor

Fish in a Barrel

There is 1 COG Tag to find in Fish in a Barrel. We share descriptions and screenshots of their locations below.

COG Tag #1

• A few minutes into the chapter, you'll come to a courtyard area with a statue in the centre
• Here, you'll have to take out a few Emergence Holes
• From the way you entered this area, search the back-left corner where some ammo and grenades are
• Next to the tree is the COG Tag on the ground

Knock Knock

COG Tag #1

• When you reach the front of the House of Sovereigns, there'll be a white van on the left side of the staircase with the Gears of War logo on it
• Follow the wall to the left of it to find the COG Tag

Hammer

COG Tag #1

• After saving Cole, you'll go up a staircase and through a set of doors into a corridor
• As soon as you enter, there'll be a large boarded-up window to your left
• Go down this path and look behind the cabinet on the right to find the COG Tag
• This is the same corridor where the robot Jack will be ordered to open a door while you cover it

COG Tag #2

• Once you've destroyed the second Seeder and passed by its corpse, you'll enter a church-like hall
• Clear the enemies, then enter the next room to find Rojas' body
• Look to the right of his body to find the COG Tag in the corner

China Shop

There are 3 COG Tags to find in China Shop. We share descriptions and screenshots of their locations below.

COG Tag #1

• At the very start of the chapter, when its name flashes up on-screen, turn around to face the fire on the ground
• Go right around the corner to find the COG Tag

COG Tag #2

• During the section where the Berserker is chasing you indoors, you'll need to bait it into chasing you and smashing open doors
• When you reach the third door, with the small window above it, look in the corner to the left
• The COG Tag is there in a small alcove

COG Tag #3

• When you get outside, follow the left wall until you find the Gears of War logo
• The COG Tag is on the right side of the colum next to the Gears of War logo
• You must collect this COG Tag before killing the Berserker, as the chapter ends when you do
