Elden Ring: How to Help Roderika at Stormhill Shack and Upgrade Ashes

Detailed below is a walkthrough explaining how to help Roderika at Stormhill Shack and upgrade Ashes. We have included images to make the process as simple as possible along with directions to everything you need.

Where to Find Roderika

In order to begin the quest that unlocks the ability to upgrade Ashes, you must first find Roderika in Limgrave. You will find her just off the main path that leads to Stormveil Castle at a place called Stormhill Shack. There is a Site of Grace here also, so look out for the yellow embers on the righthand side of the road. The exact location is detailed in the images above.

Talk to her, buttoning through all of her dialogue, and you'll eventually be tasked with finding an item for her called the Chrysalid's Note. You'll be able to find this in Stormveil Castle.

Find the Chrysalid's Note

After beating Margit, the Fell Omen and exploring some of the castle, you'll eventually find the Site of Grace labelled Rampart Tower. Now head outside and along the castle walls, avoiding the birds throwing gunpowder at you. Climb across the rooftops you encounter next and then down the ladder with the knight patrolling at the bottom. You'll want to take a right here and head into the small dining room with a lit fireplace.

You will now be up on a balcony that looks down upon a huge mess hall with limbs hanging across it. Follow the path to your right and you'll be outside for a brief second. Stop here and look to your left. You'll see the carcass of a giant hung up over a pit, with bodies and hungry dogs below. The Chrysalid's Note is down there. Jump down and pick it up, then fast travel back to the Site of Grace where you met Roderika. Talk to her and give her the item. This will convince the NPC to go to Roundtable Hold.

Go to Roundtable Hold and Chat to NPCs

The next time you go to Roundtable Hold, Roderika will be there standing next to the fireplace in the opening room. Talk to her and you'll be given a Golden Seed as a reward. Next, talk to the Blacksmith called Smithing Master Hewg just down the corridor to your right. He'll have a new dialogue option to select.

After exhausting that conversation, return to Roderika and talk to her again, once more selecting the new dialogue option. Return to the Blacksmith and select the new dialogue option that opens up.

Upgrade Ashes

The next time you go to Roundtable Hold, Roderika will have opened up shop just opposite of Smithing Master Hewg. Here, you'll be able to upgrade Ashes. You'll use Runes and Grave Glovewort to do so. Following this step by step guide completes the quest and unlocks the ability to upgrade Ashes.

As an added bonus, if you return to Stormhill Shack after completing the quest, there'll be another Golden Seed for you to pick up where Roderika was stood. Furthermore, if you return to the location where you found the Chrysalid's Note, you can collect the Crimson Hood.
