Margit, the Fell Omen: Boss Fight Strategy

For the first phase of this boss fight, Margit is equipped with a wide-reaching staff and a magical blade that he throws at you. These deal slight damage even if you have a shield up, so it's best if you dodge them. His attacks are plenty and heavy, so start by reading how many moves there are to each one and learning in what situations he'll throw his glowing daggers at you. In combination, the two can have a devastating impact on your health bar.

Therefore, stay in fairly close proximity to him while leaving enough space for the swings of the staff to miss you. Once you spot an opening — at the end of an attack pattern — then go in with a few swings. Not enough to drain your stamina gauge since you'll need that when retreating, but two or three hits will make a dent in Margit's health bar. Always proceed with caution, but figure out the moments you can be aggressive.

Once again, Ashes like Lone Wolf Ashes will come in handy here; not to deal damage, but rather to distract the boss. The Spirit Jellyfish Ashes are particularly effective. If you need to heal or want some easy hits, the Ashes will draw attention away from you and give you chance to recover. A second option is to summon Sorcerer Rogier. Their Gold Summon Sign is right next to the fog door before you enter, and they too act as a distraction while chipping away at Margit's health bar with magic attacks. There's absolutely nothing wrong with summoning for help.

Once you've whittled down the health bar to halfway, Margit will turn his magical blade into a giant hammer. This opens the boss to dealing its heaviest hit, where he jumps into the air and slams the ground near to you with the newly found weapon. If you time it right, you can actually roll into this attack and avoid taking damage. Then you've got a window to get some free hits in.

The strategy remains the same, though: try and allow summons and Ashes to distract the boss while you get around the back for some free hits. Once they die, play it very cautiously and only attack when you're certain you can get away in one piece. It's easy for the boss to kill you in one a single slurry of attacks.
