Death Stranding Director's Cut: How to Unlock the Cargo Catapult
Following the below steps, you'll be able to unlock and make use of the Cargo Catapult in Death Stranding Director's Cut.
Progress Through to Chapter 5
The first thing to note is that you must progress through the main story of Death Stranding Director's Cut to Chapter 5: Mama. You won't be able to gain access to the Cargo Catapult before this part of the game, so don't sweat it until you reach this point.
For those who have played Death Stranding on PS4 and reached Chapter 5 or further, you can import your save data to Director's Cut and access the Cargo Catapult immediately. To learn how this process works, see our guide: Death Stranding Director's Cut: How to Transfer PS4 Save File to PS5.
Complete Order No. 46 — Mama Delivery: Mountain Knot City
Before you can unlock and use the Cargo Catapult, you must first successfully complete Order No. 46 — Mama Delivery: Mountain Knot City. As soon as you have fulfilled this order, you will unlock the Cargo Catapult.
Death Stranding Director's Cut: How to Use the Cargo Catapult
Once you have unlocked the Cargo Catapult, deploying and using one is very straightforward. To set down a Cargo Catapult, you simply need a PCC (Lv. 2). To build one costs 1100 of the Chiral Network bandwidth. As with other structures, equip the PCC (Lv. 2) and hold D-Pad Down to select the Cargo Catapult. Then, hold L2 to select a position and R2 to confirm the build.
Once it's constructed, press Square next to the Cargo Catapult to select cargo to put into the cannon. Once you're happy with your selection, confirm with X. With the right stick, you then aim the Cargo Catapult, and launch the load with R2.
Once the load is in the air, the camera follows it and you must decide when to deploy the parachute with Square. The cargo will then drift to the ground, and control will return to Sam.
And that's how to get the Cargo Catapult in Death Stranding Director's Cut. Will you be making use of this new equipment? Launch into the comments section below, and check out our Death Stranding guide for lots more.
