5. DOOM: The Dark Ages (PS5)
DOOM: The Dark Ages goes for something slightly different as it turns back time for a medieval assault on hell’s legions. Not every change pays off, as the introduction of a mech and dragon adds very little to the overall experience. However, when The Dark Ages gets to the FPS action, there aren’t many who do it better than id Software. Take some time to adjust to DOOM: The Dark Ages, and you’ll discover another fantastically ferocious first-person shooter.
4. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle (PS5)
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is just good old fashioned fun. Its simplistic gameplay lets it down a little, but with vibrant environments brought to life with stunning detail, excellent writing and performances across the board, and a fun globe-trotting Indy adventure that nails the tone and feel of the film series, we had a blast from start to finish. If you’ve been holding off from playing The Great Circle, then now is the time. The PS5 takes an already brilliant adventure and makes it even better.
3. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition (PS5)
One of the most enduring games in history, Bethesda's iconic RPG comes to PS5 with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Anniversary Edition. What's more, it's quite simply the best version of Skyrim to ever grace a PlayStation console. This is a real cut above previous versions (which were often riddled with bugs), offering a mostly locked 60 frames-per-second at 4K resolution. It's taken a decade, but Bethesda has finally delivered a smooth experience with this PS5 release — and crucially, the game is still a fantastic, enormous RPG well worth playing today.
2. DOOM Eternal (PS5)
If you like your first-person shooters fast, demanding, and bloody, DOOM Eternal is the peak. A fantastic gameplay loop means you're constantly on the move and playing aggressively, earning more ammo and health by getting right up in those demonic faces and literally ripping them a new one. On PS5, it's somehow even better, with three visual modes — including one with ray tracing — and DualSense support. A brilliant FPS that really sings on Sony's current hardware.
1. Hi-Fi Rush (PS5)
Hi-Fi Rush is a gorgeous rhythm-action game with a strong cast of characters, addictive gameplay, and an incredible musical score. The game has a ton of replayability with the way it's structured, allowing you to improve your timings to perform better in the game’s rhythmic combat. One of the most unique and stylish major games this generation, this is a real breath of fresh air.

Get outta here with Ghostwire being above Deathloop.
Skyrim is still the best Bethesda game on PlayStation
Indiana Jones was amazing, blew my expectations. Glad to see it got the attention it deserves.
Meanwhile….. see you all in another 3 years to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Elder Scrolls 6 trailer.
Doom Eternal is garbage. It may as well be called "Resource Management - The Game". And that's before you mention utterly risible platforming sections.
Doom 2016 eats it for breakfast.
most of their best games are ps3 and ps4 games
fallout 3
Wolfenstein new order
evil within 2
Wolfenstein new colossus
Thank goodness people stopped worshipping Deathloop. It could've been so much more than it ended up being
"Bethesda is a publisher not afraid to try new things." Really? I think Bethesda are past their sell by date. They used to be innovative way back in the day but now they are just releasing so-so bug ridden games. Starfield is garbage by all accounts and let's not get started on the travesty that is the oblivion remaster. They certainly won't be getting any money from me in a hurry.
@Toilet_Goat I thought it was over rated in all departments. The graphics were quite nice but nothing ground breaking and it got boring very fast. Should be called bored to deathloop.
@somnambulance which version?
@Northern_munkey The most updated one! The smaller load times are wonderful.
I remember I could practice my bass and prep for shows in the load times for original Skyrim.
@somnambulance you play bass..maximum kudos to you..
I’ve yet to try out Ghostwire Tokyo. It’s been installed on my PS5 for ages, so I should give it a try soon. In terms of other games on the list, I think this is solid. I would have liked to see Oblivion Remastered but that’s okay. Hi-Fi Rush is a great pick for #1, however. That game exceeded my expectations.
Quake and Quake 2 will be installed on every console they are available on from now on. Those two games gave me eons of the best fps out there.
Removed - unconstructive
@Northern_munkey Agreed. Bethesda has been a bad developer for a long time. The only good "Bethesda" games are games they didn't even develop and only published. That's not their talent.
@LikelySatan they were not Bethesda.. they were id games..
@Northern_munkey welp, Bethesda publishes them, and Quake is on this list. It was a real good try though.
@LikelySatan nope quake and quake 2 were made by id software before Bethesda acquired them along with the original doom series. They were not published by Bethesda until 2010. Before that it was GT publishing..
Fallout 4? deathloop? Ghostwire? Hi-fi rush? Over eso?
Someone been drinking a bit too much of grandpa's cough medicine, eso is the best Bethesda has right now.
@Northern_munkey "publishes," as in currently.
@LikelySatan as far as I'm concerned those games released to critical acclaim long before Bethesda acquired the rights and started to ride the coat tails..they can never say they published them initially..they are a two bit publisher now.
@somnambulance no. The correct answer will always be doom 2016. Followed by fallout 3
@HRdepartment I’d put Fallout 3 in second place. There’s many things I prefer about Fallout 3, but it’s sort of aged like milk. It’s hard to go back to, like most games of that era. The story, text, world, and quests are some of the finest ever created, but Skyrim gets an edge for me because it’s still so playable without putting nostalgia goggles on.
…and not to not comment on Doom, but the Doom series is good to me, but it’s never been a favorite of mine either. I feel like the series is basically a reliable string of 7 or 8/10 tier games to me.
@Northern_munkey Everything that is different gets closed by them. I think i have to agree and man they do terrible at fixing games Skyrim still is not completely perfect after how many releases.
@Northern_munkey yup. And I was talking about the current Nightdive releases, so none of that has anything do with it.
@LikelySatan difference of opinions buddy..it happens. Plus it also helps if you include the nightdive bit for context..none of us are mind readers..
@Northern_munkey I might have figured you would work that out on your own, considering I said "will be installed on every console I own," and because, again, we are talking present day going forward.
...any chance you could change your avatar to Vernon, from TMNT?
@LikelySatan no
Ghostwire Tokyo was ropey as Hell, can't believe it was the same studio behind the Evil Within series and can't believe I even bothered to complete it. A far better game with a similar vibe would be Slitterhead now that I had a good time with.
Deathloop on the other hand I own but gave up on after a day or so's play as the loop mechanic got old fast. For me the Fallout series trumps all Bethesda titles although did enjoy Skyrim.
Dishonored, it's sequels and Prey not making the list... we clearly like VERY different things... and that's fine.
EDIT: Ah I see... it's games with a specific PS5 version, not just "on PS5". By 8.1 rating alone Dishonored 2 would be #2 or #3
