@nessisonett can’t argue with that . i guess i should tell you now that i’ve never even played a crack in time 😂 & i do remember having issues with the collection as well. i still need to finish it one of these days.
@nomither6 A lot of people love ACiT but I’d argue that it’s possibly because they haven’t played it recently or immediately beside the original trilogy to compare them. PS2 games really do hold up a lot of the time, they’re mostly 60FPS and have immediate gameplay that isn’t broken up with a million cutscenes or feel like they’re on rails with ‘cinematic set pieces’
One thing I love about the Dead Space remake is that they give you all the weapons for free compared to the original where you had to buy them. Why would I want to spend a scarce resource on something that I might not even like? At least this way, I get to try all of them out and see which ones I like. I remember playing through the entirety of the original with only the Plasma Cutter due to this. Now I've discovered new favourites, such as the Line Gun and Contact Beam. The former is basically a more powerful Plasma Cutter and the latter just eviscerates everything. Very awesome weapons.
currently busy with two games Im playing for my Nintendo Switch Lite
Mortal Kombat 12/1
Super Mario RPG remake
been level grinding a few characters and Kameos like crazy since late last night and all day today earlier. Cleared the Cage mansion earlier today and been grinding like crazy in Nitara's world. Ive been having fun learning Scorpion's attacks and little bit of Rain even though he has staff attacks that remind of Jade in Mortal Kombat 11
Sat my younger brother in front of Ridge Racer Type 4 last night and was glad that he got so into it that his eyes were watering from lack of blinking. Genuinely that happens to me too, I think it’s a combination of the low poly graphics and the focus you need to not make errors. He’s a bizarre eclectic gamer who spends most of the time on the PS5 playing Crusader Kings 3, Hitman or Battlefield so I’m glad I’ve managed to tear him away to try something new. Probably a testament to how incredible that game is and how well it stands the test of time. Insane that it has visual artefacts on PS5 though, not that hard to emulate PS1 these days!
Started playing Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory on Switch today. I seriously couldn't go through the Holiday season without playing a Kingdom Hearts title. It's become a tradition of mine due to the Disney theme.
Anyway, I'm really enjoying this game. It's a great way to enjoy the music of this series as well as get a brief recap of every Kingdom Hearts game. It also reminded me what an absolute delight this franchise is and how much I love it. There's just nothing quite like it.
Too bad this is my last Kingdom Hearts game. I doubt Kingdom Hearts IV will come out before the Holiday season next year. So I'll probably be miserable during this time next year lol.
I've realized Steam's verification system is sort of pointless. A "Verified" experience like REmake HD wouldn't play cutscenes until I downloaded an alternative version of Proton, but Prodeus works perfectly out of the box and is only listed as "playable."
Anyway, this experience is pretty incredible. I'm using the right track pad to aim, and it feels fairly accurate. I locked the game at 60fps and it just looks and sounds incredible. Sort of like Brutal DOOM, but with a very cool HD2D aesthetic via all of the modern visual effects.
My Switch is now only for exclusives and games I already own on it.
Currently Playing: The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy (PC)
@Ralizah I played Prodeus on my Switch and really enjoyed it despite a couple of hiccups due to the fact that it’s one of those ‘is it done or not, I can’t tell’ sort of early access releases. The way it handles progression is exactly what I want from a modern boomer shooter.
Started playing the first Paper Mario on Switch Online. Such a fantastic game so far! I last played it on the Wii maybe like 13 years ago and I only got to chapter 2 before I gave up on the game. I don't think I was good at it when I was a kid. I have been playing the Mario & Luigi games the past few years, so that has definitely helped me be good at Paper Mario now as I just finished chapter 1 without any issues. Hopefully I can get past chapter 2 this time.
It's absolutely insane though just how unique every character is in this game. Compare that to later Paper Mario games where everyone is the same generic model. Not to mention the fun RPG mechanics, which have been missing since the third game. I really hope Nintendo releases a new Paper Mario game that plays like the first two if the TTYD remake sells well.
@nessisonett I like that the "secrets" reward you with material for better abilities. Very, very cool. It actually encourages exploration.
A lot of the secrets are hard to find, but the level design makes their hiddenness more logical and less 'click on a random wall' like in some older boomer shooters.
Currently Playing: The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy (PC)
@JohnnyShoulder It's terrible game design. Prodeus secrets often simply reward strong observational skills. Although unfortunately there are a few where you have to drop off the side of a platform to access a hidden hole or something like that.
Not a perfect game, but I like it. My third favorite DOOM at this point after 2016 and 64 (haven't played Eternal yet).
@Ralizah I believe it is a fairly addition to PS Extra, so will check it out at some point.
I've not tried many boomer shooters, but did enjoy my time with DOOM 2016. Although I got quite far, stopped playing for ages, and could not progress any further when played it again.
Started playing DiRT 2 on Xbox 360. Is this really a game from 2009? It feels like something that came out recently given the fantastic presentation and fun gameplay. It's like the predecessor to Forza Horizon in all honesty. Great mix of different racing types and events. I'm enjoying it a lot so far.
Made a start on X-men Origins: Wolverine yesterday, having heard a lot of positivity about it over the years. My short take is… I agree wholeheartedly. What a great old-school God of War clone (character action game… I’ve said it before but I hate that name) it is.
There is a wide array of combat moves, some decent enemy variety, decent narrative (oh so better than the movie) and good production values for the time. Bit of a forgotten classic I reckon.
If it wasn't one of the Activision Marvel games, I'd probably look into getting a PS3 copy, but it was bad enough paying over $60 for another copy of Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions last year.
