The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
Easy round. My favorite 3D Mario, my favorite 2D Mario, and a top 3 2D Zelda.
@BLP_Software There is, at least, some sense of narrative progression in Origins. You're gradually working toward a goal as you move from world to world, defeat more bosses, and collect more abilities. Also, worlds have consistent themes as you play through them. Legends just... throws you into a glorified level select screen. No sense of narrative momentum or coherency whatsoever.
Don't get me wrong: I absolutely adore Legends. So much so, in fact, that I'm not too far off from getting the platinum trophy in the PS4 version (seriously, that last level of awesomeness can bite me). But it doesn't feel... coherent.
The level design in Origins and Legends is great, though. Way better than any of the New Super Mario Bros. games.

First choice was a no brainer although its going out this round. SC2 is the only fighting game I got so good at I entered a tournament and got through to the national quarter finals. I practised every day with mates from uni. The GC version was the best of the 3 released, and the GC pad was made for SC2. Its probably my favourite game of all time, Namco then threw it all away with the shambles of SC3 and really tarnished the series.
The fight between sm64 and Mario 3 is to tough to call. I picked sm3 as I've revisited that game more in the last few years but on any other day the choice could've been sm64.
I haven't played link between worlds so OOT gets my vote on the last one.
@Ralizah With you on origins / legends. Origins had such a huge impact, potentially reigniting the 2d platformer genre. Legends was a continuation, but yes its way less coherent and isn't as memorable as a result.

Easy group this, a bit tough leaving Mario 3 out but 64 is amazing. A Link Between World's is one of my least favourite 2D Zeldas and a million miles away from the quality of Orcarina
Older than I care to remember but have been gaming since owning a wooden Atari 2600 and played pretty much everything inbetween.

A huge mention to Zelda a link between worlds, a total outsider only picked by one person @dichotomy in the prologue made it all the way to the semi finals. Great shout on that one!
Going into the final group stage, Super Mario Galaxy and Zelda Ocarina of Time are huge favourites. But will SMG2 being in the pot potentially ruin SMGs chances? One things for sure this is going to be interesting!

Everyone must pick 4 games and give them a Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze (This is a Playstation site after all). Each trophy has a point allocation descending downwards so Platinum is worth more than gold, gold is worth more than silver etc. But I will keep the point allocation a secret until the results are tallied in 48 hours time.
