There we go, there’s Tencent’s Nintendo involvement that everyone seems to conveniently forget about. It’s literally a reskin of about 9 games they have on mobile. I wonder how annoyed fans will be.
Free to play, mobile, strategic, team based moba game ... I've never been too keen on those things. I'll give this a miss.
On the plus side, it seems that we're not getting a new mainline pokemon game this year (minus the Sword/Shield expansions of course). I do think the pokemon series would benefit from a longer development cycle, with the developers taking their time to make things just right.
They used weird bootleg joy-cons in the trailer. Home button on left and D-Pad on right. Wouldn’t surprise me if they were cheap Chinese tat given Tencent are involved.
@nessisonett Indeed, but Nintendo isn't listed as a publisher on any Pokemon titles that aren't also released on Switch, and sometimes they aren't listed at all.
By extension, this also Tencent's dealings with Creatures and GameFreak, but nope, just Nintendo apparently. Lets forget how TPC acts independently. Ownership != control when the company is clearly autonomous.
Sure, Nintendo and the other owners would have likely signed off on such a thing, but Pokemon largely does what it wants, especially these days. Hell, this is the company that initially....saw no reason to put games on the Switch.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
@Haruki_NLI The game is being developed by a subsidiary of Tencent and published by Tencent, with Nintendo and TPC having a minimal hand in the game. Pokemon as a property hasn’t exactly been pleasing the fans this gen and their increasing reliance on mobile titles trying to recapture the glory days of Go just aren’t going to win anybody over. It’s a baffling decision, especially when they hyped everyone up for this announcement.
@nessisonett TPCi is very much, how do I word this.
It's what Nintendo would be if they didn't have that side of them that told Cygames to not over monetise Dragalia Lost, or seemingly dropping mobile because to make THAT successful would involve devaluing the brand.
Pokemon Company is like Nintendo, if it was ran by EA.
In Switch news, I got a 1TB Micro SDXC Card. Been downloading all my stuff for over a day now, down to 690GB and a lot to go. Whew.

@nessisonett, in regards to the photo you posted on the last page, it doesn't have bootleg Joy-Con, they just accidentally used a mirrored image of a Switch somehow.
Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)
Pokemon Sword and Shield players can now get a free shiny Zeraora through the mobile version of the Pokemon Home app. It's available to all players, even those that don't have the expansion pass and didn't participate in the recent raids. It does require the mobile app though, and it also requires a pokemon to be deposited or withdrawn from Home for the gift to be available.
Zeraora is an electric type mythical pokemon, and isn't usually available through normal gameplay.
Solid read on the new Paper Mario. This part particularly stood out to me:
These bosses aren’t just waiting in one location for Mario to find them. Instead, they’re scattered around the world. That creates a striking visual, as players can see the streamers far in the distance, while also giving them a hint as to where their next challenge lies. One of the biggest departures with The Origami King is that the story isn’t chapter-focused as past games have been. Instead, players can travel from region to region seamlessly in an open-world setup.
That explains the big maps and Wind Waker-y looking sailing.
Doing another Ocarina of Time Randomiser run, this time with every sound effect and piece of music randomised too. Hilariously the Fairy Fountain theme has been replaced by the Goron City music and Hyrule Field has the Shadow Temple music, making my experience rather different than normal. I got extremely lucky and found bombs, boomerang and slingshot in my first run around as child Link so that’ll open up almost every chest and make the dungeons easy as a child. Already managed to pull off some great tricks, finally got the Kak Tower jump 100% down and managed to skip the Kak Gate as well.
Hopefully with other companies porting Falcom games to the Switch, XSEED will be incentivized to put Trails of Cold Steel 1 and 2, and the various Ys games they've published, on the system.
Also, just preloaded Paper Mario: The Origami King on my system. Let's-a-go!
@Ralizah Ys Origin was brilliant on Vita, I can’t remember the last time I felt motivated to play through the same game 3 times with different characters. It probably helps that I’d just played Ys 1&2 and so the plot was pretty interesting too. I really hope Falcom can bring more of their games to Switch, the rights situation is extremely annoying.
