@kyleforrester87 I thought it was my pro controller as it seemed a little better when using joycons but had another go and it is infinitely better undocked. Which is annoying as I prefer games docked if I possibly can.
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
@Octane I've heard that. Makes me curious to try it. Unfortunately, that would require re-purchasing the base game again, and the internet situation at our home is... not fantastic right now.
Hopefully the digital version will go on sale again at some point.

@kyleforrester87 I just went and tested it on my TV. No delay whatsoever. It responds with a character animation as soon as I press or hold a button. Obviously it takes the slighest split second to open the map, because the character has to actually open it in-game first, but that's identical with handheld mode.
Maybe you should check your TV settings? Perhaps there's been a bit of a delay with other games and you just haven't noticed because most games don't require split-second reactions?

@Ralizah Yeah I did think it could be the TV causing the problem, but I've no problem with equally fast games like Hyper Light Drifter on PS4. I guess it could be a problem just with the Switch, but honestly I had no problem with games like Mario either, which require quite precise button inputs at times.
But looking online other people seem to have the same problem.
Funny thing is, this could've been a standalone thing for all I know. It's a completely new character, and the location is also completely different from the main game.
The good thing is that the more you play, the more levels open up, so you can always focus on another one and come back later. But I like it so far. My only ''complaint'' would be the lack of boss fights. You collect four different objects (like in the single player campaign), but I think it would've been neat if they were guarded by a boss, instead of just sitting there for you to grab.
@kyleforrester87 Strange. I wonder why it's not affecting my version of the game...
@Octane Yeah. I didn't see the point in having the game any more when I couldn't stay connected to a match half the time. Besides, I got 45 or so hours out of it.
I don't know why they don't sell it separately. I guess because it unlocks stuff in the main game, but it seems like you could just make that sort of thing conditional.
Ah well. When out internet situation improves and the game goes back on sale for $40 or less, I'll probably pick it up again.

@Knuckles-Fajita I kinda wish you didn't spoil that part for me...
@Ralizah I see. Yeah, internet can be an issue sometimes for me too (and they're talking about a streaming-only future lol!). It seems fine during the weekends, but it won't always connect on weekdays. But I think that's just the Switch, because other devices don't have that issue.
@Octane Well it was obvious you get something for doing everything. Ever seen a Nintendo game before?
I didn't say anything except it exists.
Have you done the weird "Break all the boxes with one shot" mission yet? That one is where I died and spend the most CQ points....rest of the game is actually rather simple.
Its just that one timing challenge man. My weakest aspect in Splatoon is timing.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
@Rudy_Manchego@Ralizah just put my TV in "game mode" which disables the post processing effects that will cause input lag and its fine now. The image didnt look as nice but I altered the colours a bit and it's good. It's strange as I tried a few other games both in/out of game mode and they were fine either way. I really don't think it's the TV as it happily handles even HDR content with pretty minimal input lag. Perhaps there is something going on with this game that certain TVs struggle with. And maybe the precise nature of it makes any lag even more obvious, as suggested. Weird! Anyway, all good now.
@kyleforrester87 Will give that a go, I have game mode on my TV but don't use it. But annoying. I have switched to Golf Story on the Switch now because I wanted something a little more chill.
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
@Rudy_Manchego I would probably use game mode more if I played online FPS games. Let me know how it goes. I changed the "colour space" option to "auto" afterwards instead of native.
And I've had a hankering to play some more Golf Story you know. Got it near launch but stopped playing it when I got XBC2. Might jump back on that tonight.
Ok I've got a Hollow Knight question - are the badges you can buy for the map single use or do they automatically add all future benches etc you come across off of a single purchase?
I did buy one but I don't think it went into my inventory.
