@Ralizah 100% correct there, Shining is a game that I would want but I don't have enough time to play that and Octopath, the latter being probably my most wanted game this year.
Gotta say I'm having a lot of fun with Hollow Knight too, only a few hours in but already one of my favourite games on Switch.
Ooh and Mario Tennis unlocks this morning 😁
Older than I care to remember but have been gaming since owning a wooden Atari 2600 and played pretty much everything inbetween.
So I bought a Switch and Zelda...I knew I couldn't transfer my save but turns out the season pass I had bought on WiiU on the same account I am using on Switch is not downloadable and I would have to purchase it again (they can keep it, honestly)...and you hear people complaining about Fortinte. The most stingy company EVER. The console is great but I am really bummed by this.
@kyleforrester87@KratosMD because it's a digital season pass for the same game ( a cross generation, first party game at that), that I bought on the same account I am using. I can understand that the game is not cross-buy but I expected the dlc content linked to the same owner and the same account to be...I must be really ut of touch with Nintendo but jeez. I guess I learnt my lesson and will never buy digital/dlc from these greedy scumbags again. I am used to better services.
I have my pre-order down on Octopath Traveller which I'm super hyped for.I played the latest demo and really liked the art and writing..can't say I'm impressed by the English voice overs but I'll no doubt change that to the Japanese for the main game anyway. Its going to be great to play a square enix old school type rpg again.
Like a few of you have mentioned,I also played the Shining demo and was really impressed.Felt like a Tales of game and I decided id pre-order that one too...because the release date is ridiculous so I thought I'd give it a fighting chance.
Trouble is I don't usually like playing more than one rpg at a time so I can get into the story but not only have I put 50 hours into Stardew Valley which I'm totally hooked on but recently...as in under a week ago i started Xenoblade 2.I admit I tried the first game on the 3ds but I really couldn't get into it..maybe it was the tiny screen that put me off but I gave up on it really quickly. The sequel however has got me hooked from the start!Love the characters, graphics, story and even got used to the battle system now which confused me to begin with.Only thing I dislike..again..the English voice actors...I really can't imagine they would sound like that.So again, changed to jap audio..
So yeah I'm worried about how many rpgs I will have on the go in less than a month cuz it certainly won't be one..
@Feena Dunno I still think you're expecting too much there. We have had plenty of cross gen titles on PS4 and Xbox but wheres the president for handing out free copies of DLC that existed on the previous gen versions? I guess some of the new-gen versions were labelled "Complete Editions" or something to that effect, but that wasn't the case with Zelda to be fair.
*it auto corrected to president, and I like it so im leaving it! :')
I don't know, in my experience I always got my DLC on multiple formats when I bought them on PSN. Mostly VITA/ps4 stuff. Was I lucky? I feel like the unified account barely means anything with the big N.
Trying the Bravely Octothing demo. This was clearly made for 3DS but it's enjoyable!
@Feena Nah, Octopath was developed in UE4 and is using a buttload of filters and other features to achieve its distinctive visual flair. That game wouldn't have a dream of running on a 3DS or even a Vita.
Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (NS2); Corpse Factory (PC)
@Feena Just a tip but try turning off the black borders in the options if you think there is a bit too much going on with the image. I think it's an improvement myself.
@Feena I believe the reason that happens between Vita and PS4 is because they are around simultaneously.
What you have between Wii U and Switch is the same thing that happened with me and the Jak games on PS4.
Yes, I can see on my PS4 that I have the PS3 trophies. I own the games on my PS3 digitally. It says so on my account. There are two methods of verifying that I already own the games.
Yet I dont get any savings. Why? Because why should I?
Also, I like you're complaining about this but forgetting if you owned a VC game on Wii you got it dirt cheap on Wii U after transfer
I cant think of any instance where buying DLC on one system gets you that same DLC for free when you go out, buy the exact same game again on a later system.
Now Playing: Mario & Luigi Brothership, Sonic x Shadow Generations
Now Streaming: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
@Ralizah I noticed the UE4 logo buy the kind of "pop up book 3D" screams 3DS to me... It's definitely gorgeous and I can see there is a lot going on but it can't help but feeling it was conceived on 3DS and then developed elsewhere.
Finished the Octopath demo... It's very very nice but I can see it having the same problems as Bravely Default - becoming repetitive and having cardboard characters. I love the art style and the combat is nice (it kinda becomes tiresome in a 3 hours demo, hope it gets more layered as the game progresses)
@Knuckles-Fajita and not all VC games were available or discounted... It's not my point here but if you look at any kind of digital game pricings and/or account policy it is very clear Nintendo is way less consumer friendly than Microsoft or Sony in this particular regard.
@Feena I don't think the characters are cardboard at all..well, as far as JRPGs go anyway. I've played 3 and 2 of them were very interesting with the other being a bit more predictable but fine none the less. I played both the last 2 Bravely games and I'm quite aware of their problems. I had the same worries going into OT but having played both the demos it looks like they have upped their game.
@kyleforrester87 The characters stories seem developed but none of the characters I played (5 out of 8 in 2 different sessions) seemed to have a distinct personality whatsoever. I barely remember their names.
It is still something I'd play ...
@Feena My problem with Octopath is purely with its structure: I'm not convinced a game structured like this can make for a satisfying larger experience. I'm also wondering what balancing issues will crop up between different party members.
I didn't have a problem with the writing in this, but I also won't be playing this expecting really deep characters. As long as they avoid Falcom-esque nonsense, I'll be fine.
I'm hoping there's a japanese voice option, though, because what I've heard so far has been... rough.
To be honest, the bad voice acting and 2D sprites on 3D backgrounds reminds me a LOT of PS1 era JRPGs, which really tickles my nostalgia.
