@KratosMD Honestly I figured given the changes Sun and Moon and then Ultra follow, any game going forward would do what you and @mookysam are asking for: That there are only X things, catch em, done.

Because that's what Sun and Moon do. There is no National Pokedex. You see those 302 things listed in the regional Pokedex? That's it. Once you catch them all, boom, Shiny Charm and one Diploma for you. Same in Ultra. 403 things, catch em, done.

So it was a safe bet that Generation 8 would have a 300 strong dex, catch em all, boom youre done. The other 500 dont exist as far as the game cares. Sure you can have them in the game, but they dont count to anything.

That's what those games did. You know that there are only 300 things, and once you've caught them all, youre done with the collecting part.

@KratosMD You know what the best part of having collected them in thr past is?

Transfer them up.

Caught them all in Platinum? Send em up to Gen 5, then catch all the new things. Send em up to Gen 6, catch the 72 new things, oh look your Gen 6 Pokedex is full.

Send up to Sun and Moon, catch the 82 new things, and bam. Youve done it again.

In fact thats how I did it. I already had all 721 Pokemon as of 2015, so when Sun and Moon landed I sent them all up, it autofilled in the Pokedex pages that were in the game, and I just caught the sub 100 new things.

And Ill do that for the next game, and the one after that. Bring the Pokedex with me.

You only ever need to catch once then transfer them.

I'm OK with this supposed game only including first-gen Pokemon. There are just waaaaaaaaay too many Pokemon at this point, and the inflated number of critters to catch just makes the whole "catch em all" aspect seem tedious. Whereas, in the original games, every new Pokemon you found was an exciting, substantive addition to your collection.

(this focus on a limited number of creatures, at least initially, combined with a surprisingly good story and characters, is why Black/White are still my favorite games since Red/Blue/Yellow)

It'll also hopefully be a thrillingly nostalgic ride back to Kanto. Sure, other games included Kanto in them as a kind of bonus, but it's not the same when it's not the primary story progression region.

If this game is a full re-imagining of Red/Blue + sprinkles of Yellow I will give Nintendo a 5 year pass.
The original 151 are just perfect. The newer additions feel more like Digimon than Pokemon to me.

All of the gens have good and bad designs. The issue for me is with the sheer volume of Pokemon there are now. Even the best designs get swallowed up and lost as a result.

This is a gen out of date (it was made in 2013, when College Humor was still good), but this "updated pokerap" gets the point across crystal clear.

Well, RIP the dream of Wii U ports outselling their original releases.

Hyrule Warriors sold less at launch in the UK than the Wii U version did. Let that sink in.

But at this point, they got Donkey Kong, they got Bayonetta, they got Pokken and Mario Kart. The big ports are done. Now all thats left is spinoffs and niche games.

And we know Captain Toad wont do well releasing the same day as Octopath.

Eh, Captain Toad will probably be fine. It probably has more mainstream appeal than Octopath as a "Mario universe" game. If anything, being released just a month after Aces (and potentially having Yoshi the next month, sandwiching it) would hurt it more than Octopath, IMO.

@YummyHappyPills That's not saying much considering how dreadful the Warriors series is these days. I don't see it as surprising at all that this one hasn't sold well though. Like, I'd buy Mario Kart again probably. I haven't, yet, but I probably will. Hyrule Warriors? It didn't exactly set the world alight the first time, and there's little reason to play through it all again here.

Also I'm totally okay with a new Pokemon only including the original Pokemon. We're at the point where the new Pokemon designs have hit peak silly, and as much as I love some of the new ones - Snivy, my man - I honestly don't think it matters whether they're new or old as to how much I'm going to enjoy it. I just like walking round catching them. If they're old, fine. If they're new, fine. Just give me a damned Pokemon game.

It'll be funny if all of these rumors turn out to be complete bunk.

Ridley and Simon Belmont would be great additions, though. Hopefully Cloud returns as well.

I don't care about Ice Climbers, but I know some people were annoyed that they weren't in Smash 4, so... I'm happy for them?

@KratosMD Mario + Rabbids is absolutely fantastic, which was pretty shocking to me, considering I expected to hate it (not a fan of rabbids, minions, or anything else that runs around being loud and stupid).

@KratosMD Is good but difficult.

DLC also seems to be good. That DLC is a bundle for all including some new weapons and that story content that apparently is about 10 hours.

@KratosMD The DLC is an odd one.

The Season Pass is £15.99 and mentions two DLC packs as they are released. One of which is obviously Donkey Kong Adventure.

You can also buy the Pixel Weapons pack separately for £2.49 and the Ultra Challenge Maps Pack for £5.80 separately.

Seems after DK there is one more pack.

@Kidfried Pixel Weapons. I also think there was some other pack included in the Season Pass so you may as well just buy that.

@KratosMD I'm not sure if I'm picking up the DLC. Depends how much new gameplay is there. If it really is 10+ hours of content, I don't think the $19.99 asking price is too bad, and will probably purchase it, because I'd love to have another excuse to get back to this delightful game.

Like with BotW, though, I won't pay for it until I'm actually ready to run through the DLC.

BTW, I ordered Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, and Amazon said it should be getting here Thursday!

It'll be my first foray into it (never had a Wii U & only the original 3DS), so I'm pretty excited. I really enjoyed Fire Emblem Warriors, and even though this one isn't as refined (or so I've heard), I'm a bigger fan of Zelda as a series so hopefully I'll enjoy it.

@RR529 I'll be ordering it, downloading Mega Man and pre-loading Sushi Striker when I get paid on Monday.

Super excited to get into HW again, with all the 3DS and additional DLC content that version brought, after the Wii U release was the first game I bought at uni and became a great bonding exercise for me and a new friend at the time, alongside Smash.

Nintendo is launching a Switch SKU in Japan for 25000 yen that is just a system, straps and Joy-Con, no dock nor AC Adaptor.

It's called the Second Set Bundle. Guess why?

It's obvious why. You have THE game where both of your kids are going to want a copy and their own system. But in the family home you dont need multiple docks. Remove that, buy one with a dock at full price and then get your other kid the one without. Saves money.

Plus Nintendo made it clear in their last Q&A they want Switch to be One per Person not one per household, which means multiple people per home. Which means you likely wont need multiple docks, so best create a SKU where, if they dont need a dock, they dont get one. But if you do, that SKU still exists.

It answers a complaint of people not wanting the additional docks when buying more units for their home, and makes it easier to get more per home without directly cutting the profit margins. They just...remove what is for some a potentially redundant component

Or it's an easy way to sell more Switches when Pokemon releases later this year..!

@YummyHappyPills Other Nintendo handheld TV adapters, like the ones for gamecube and SNES, were sold separately, so kind of makes sense. Baffling this wasn't the case from the start ; )
