How would people recommend playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Japanese or English voice acting?
I started out with English...started of bad and as soon as you're greeted by the merchant guy with the heavy Scottish accent, I turned off the game and downloaded the Japanese voice pack.
Japanese isn't that much better, but I don't think I could handle the English VA for 50hours+ (I've been flicking back and forth). Does it get better? I'm only a couple of hours in.

@finalstan Played a bit more before work & it doesn’t seem as bad now. Think I’ll stick it out with English.

@Octane Yeah it’s pretty bad. Why is everyone in JRPGs British?!

Downloaded the Japanese audio DLC, but never ended up using it.
I'm thinking I'll go Japanese language for my second, hopefully 100% playthrough.
BTW, for anyone interested, Pyra's voice actress, Skye Bennett, has been livesteaming the game a couple of times a week on her youtube channel for a while now. I'm not really into LP culture, but it's interesting hearing her perspective whenever she's commenting on her own work.
@Fight_Teza_Fight@Octane I absolutely hated the English voices in the trailer, but in-game they quickly grew on me. I especially love Nia and Morag's voices and how different regions' accents generally correspond to real-life regional accents (e.g. Welsh, Scottish...). I don't think the trailers were very representative of the games overall VA.
@Octane it's a mixed bag for me personally. Some of the blades are pretty cool looking but realising that they're essentially human is a bit weird. A friend has described it as "Pokémon but you collect overly sexy women". They're not wrong...
@Kidfried I had a long list but then noticed you're not interested in old games. Still, in case you haven't played them: Mario Kart 8, Shovel Knight, Hyrule Warriors, Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze, and Rayman Legends all offer pretty good local play.
Snipperclips is apparently quite good, and I had some fun with a few friends in the demo. I also really enjoy Kirby - the downside is that it's a very easy game.
Other recommendations are Fast RMX (racing), PuyoPuyo Tetris (puzzle), ARMS (fighting).
@Kidfried Snipperclips, pick a Neo Geo game, Vs Super Mario Bros/Mario Bros, Sonic Mania, Street Fighter 2, Street Fighter 30th, Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart, Mario Odyssey, Naruto, Rayman, Monopoly, Uno, Donkey Kong, Streets of Red, Raging Justice, Hello Kitty, Wild Guns, Kirby, Pac-Man, Namco Museum, Brawlout, Enter The Gungeon, Binding of Isaac, Gear Club, Resident Evil Revelations 2, Worms, Mario + Rabbids, RIVE, FAST RMX, Fire EMblem Warriors, Use Your Words, Jackbox, FIFA 18, Golf Story, Pokken, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, NBA, LEGO Worlds, Minecraft, Overcooked, ARMS, Puyo Puyo Tetris, LEGO City Undercover.
This is by no means an exhaustive list either. Seems pretty meaty for a system with poor local multiplayer options.
And of course it's bad compared to PS4. One is 5 years old, one is a year old. One has thousands of games, one has...let me check...684 as of today.
