Decided to buy the Destroy All Humans! remake while it's on sale.

It's a game I've been interested in ever since it's original release though I never got around to getting it until now, and I figured for $10 it was worth getting for a rainy day/lull in releases.

Meanwhile, in Tales of Arise I've just arrived at the obligatory section where you lose access to your main healer for a bit, so that should be fun, lol.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Well, that sucks. I just got a mail about the Steam sale having started now and I remembered that there are a few games on there that aren't on consoles that I want to get, which are: Trails in the Sky, Half-Life 1 and The Witcher 1. All of which are on sale for crazy low prices on Steam right now. So I looked up Trails in the Sky first and apparently the game can only be played on Windows computers and I only have a MacBook. Then I looked up Half-Life 1 and apparently the game doesn't even have Xbox controller support on MacOS without an external program (which I don't want to bother with) and I can't play games with the keyboard and trackpad on my laptop, that would be too difficult. Finally, I looked up The Witcher 1 and that game isn't even supported by recent MacOS for some reason. So basically, all three games that I've been really wanting to get on Steam aren't even accessible on my Mac, lol.

I was kinda hopeful about being able to play them since I never play games on computers but seeing as how these are decade old games, I thought they would run well on my MacBook Pro. Not to mention that these are all games that I would've loved to play first because I have the sequels on consoles. Oh well.

@LtSarge Mate, I had a Mac in the early 2010s and Mac support on Steam was terrible back then too. It took me ages to get Skyrim working on that through Wine. If you want to play games on a MacBook then dual boot Windows, otherwise it really isn’t worth it.

@LtSarge If you can't boot Windows it might be worth checking which games are supported by GeForce Now. There's a free tier that works decently.

@nessisonett @mookysam I'm not serious in getting into computer gaming as I prefer to play on consoles. I just thought that I'd be able to check out some games that aren't available on consoles, like those I mentioned.

I really had no idea that computer gaming is even worse than consoles in terms of compatibility. I ranted the other day about having to choose different console versions like PS4/PS4 Pro/PS5 and so on. But on PC/Mac you have to think about having the right OS, controller support, OS support, the right specs and so forth. I'm really glad that I don't game on computer lol. Although I'm sure all of this would've been easier if I had a PC, but there would probably be other issues there as well.

@LtSarge Macs just aren't good for gaming, even less since Apple dropped 32-bit support a few years ago. For me GeForce Now is a nice way to play the few things I'm interested in that I can't get on consoles. I started Trails in the Sky the 3rd a few weeks ago and found it worked fine, although with the free tier you're limited to a one hour session and need to wait for server access (which can be a few minutes). I don't know about controller support for the app, but there is Dualshock 4 and Xbox One controller support on the Mac at an OS level.

@LtSarge @mookysam Yeah, Windows is absolutely universal when it comes to gaming but Macs are a nightmare unless you buy games on the Mac App Store. Controller support is also a weird one because I’m like 99% sure that Steam has inbuilt controller support for basically everything out there.

@LtSarge @mookysam PSA: I believe you can play the Frog Detective games on Mac. Not sure why you'd want to play anything else when that's an option.

Thought it worth mentioning here, the Humble Choice subscription games for March have just arrived, and it's a brilliant month this month

For anyone not aware, Humble Choice is a subscription that Humble Bundle do - it's a lot like PS Plus but it's more expensive (£12 a month I believe, unless you pick it up when there's a special deal on) - you get between 8 and 12 games a month (used to be 12 every month but they've reduced it a bit now to focus on quality titles, at least that's the PR talk). Unlike PS Plus you get to keep them forever regardless of whether you stay a subscriber

Anyway, stand out games this month are - Mass Effect Legendary Edition, Desperados III and Dark Pictures: Man of Medan! There are 5 other games which I'm sure are plenty good too

Don't mean to sound like an advert for Humble btw - I couldn't care less if they get more subscribers or not - but £12 for the games they're offering this month (there's no obligation to continue subscribing, unless you subscribe when there's a deal on - and even then there's no obligation, it's just that you can't pause for a month while also keeping the same deal) is crazy good value for money, especially considering that they're to keep forever - unless of course you already have them
