@nessisonett The only Scottish comedians I'm aware of recently is Kevin Bridges and Frankie Boyle. And I feel they have both gone off the boil recently lol.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@Sorteddan Nice one on finally beating Hades himself! It's such a heart sink the first time you realise he has the second phase but I actually find it easier than the first one.
I got the platinum for the game last week and had a great time with it. You've got plenty more to do before you see the credits (and even more for the epilogue) but I never got bored of the gameplay loop.
Which weapon did you have your first success with?
@Thrillho
Weirdly enough it was using the gun though I had a load of boons which were hitting just about everything with a combination of lightning and hangover which seemed to decimate everything in the vicinity. Have done two more successful runs since -both with the spear. And earlier I managed to beat Charon for the loyalty card! It is pretty great isn't it?!

@Sorteddan Nice job. My first successful run was with the Adamant Rail too! The perk to give 300% damage to your bomb is fantastic.
Are you aiming for the platinum though? I think it took me 80 runs altogether but there are a couple of trophies worth knowing about so you don’t end up having to do even more..
I used to mix up my weapon most runs but my go-to towards the end was the shield with Apsect of Zeus (where you can throw the shield and it gives continuous damage). Mix that with a load of Zeus boons and you can pretty much leave the shield to do all the work for you
@Thrillho
Good to know thanks, I tend to mainly pick the weapon the purple glow tells me to... Not currently aiming for the platinum, but if I keep playing then I may look into it properly and check the guides at some point. First win was on run 30 so now somewhere in the mid 30s already. Which trophies do I need to read up on?

Just finished Forza Motorsport 6 on Xbox One. I think this game really solidified my fondness for the Forza Motorsport series and just racing sims in general. It's definitely the best game in the series so far, offering a large amount of tracks (both new and old ones), tons of cars and a great career mode which doesn't overstay its welcome. While Motorsport 3 and 4 were great, their career mode would become incredible repetitive as you had to do e.g. 20 races in order to finish one "season" out of like ten. In FM6, the career mode was fairly lengthy (took me about 25 hours to finish) but it never became repetitive as there were 15 series with 4-6 races in each series. Perfect length if you ask me. Not to mention there were fun showcase events you could do on the side, such as driving into bowling pins in order to score high, or try to pass as many cars as you can, or drive in between a set amount of cones. In other words, the game had great variety and I came away very satisfied by it.
Just finished Far Cry 4 on PS4. Great game! I really enjoyed traversing an open world set in the Himalayas and the gameplay was just as fun as Far Cry 3. My biggest issue with the game is that the story is severely lacking compared to FC3. There wasn't enough plot, most of the story missions were about going to a place and taking it over for the rebels. There were some memorable characters that you start caring about towards the end of the game, but things like the main villain not showing up enough brought down the experience. You meet him in the beginning of the game, but the next time you see him isn't until when you're halfway through the story. However, I do have to say that the campaign missions where you have to make choices were really good. I had to think about them for a good while because there were both good and bad sides to both choices. Not to mention that there would be consequences depending on who you choose to side with. So the fact that these choices were actually thought-provoking made the experience more unique compared to Far Cry 3.
It took me about 23 hours to finish the story and most side objectives such as capturing outposts, liberating bell towers and so on. For an open world game, I think that's a good length and it definitely doesn't overstay its welcome. I also enjoyed some DLC missions that I got from the season pass and I'll also be playing the Valley of the Yetis DLC next.
So overall, great game and while it wasn't as good as Far Cry 3, it's definitely the second best game in the series that I've played.
Just finished the Valley of the Yetis DLC for Far Cry 4. It was incredibly meh. Uninteresting story and basically more of the same in terms of gameplay. I definitely wouldn't have bought the season pass today, but unfortunately I bought it years ago since I saw it on sale and didn't bother doing any research about it. I mean, if I want more Far Cry I would just play the other games like Far Cry 5.
Anyway, I feel like I'm ready to move on now from FC4. Glad to have finally played it since it was one of the first games I bought for my PS4 when I got it.
Just played through Gris. Was looking for ‘something’ (not quite sure what) to help refresh post-Horizon Forbidden West and pre-Elden Ring and this turned out to be just what I was looking for. Serene, jaw-droppingly beautiful and clever without being too taxing. A proper indie-gem!
Aperture Desk Job (PC), Valve's latest game. It's a short and completely free game. It acts as a tech demo to the Steam Deck, but can be played on a regular PC using a controller.
It's well worth playing if you enjoy the style of story-telling and humour in Portal 2.
@Keith_Zissou so it probably took around 4-5 hours to finish… I gotta go back and use the chapter select to finish off the platinum though as I must’ve missed quite a lot judging by the amount of trophies I’ve still to obtain.
It ‘basically’ plays like a pretty typical 2D platformer. It has metroidvania style skills that you accrue throughout your progress but it isn’t actually a metroidvania as it is actually very linear. The mv-style skills that you gain access to are ingeniously utilised though and by the time I got to an underwater section and you have to start chaining the various skills together in order to progress, I was all in. It’s a literal work of art in so many ways. The beautiful water-colour visuals, the OST is just as impressive, the overall metaphor of the games narrative and then the gameplay. Really glad I settled on this one.
@RogerRoger
Well, it was mediocre from my opinion.
I personally don't like the character design at all but the gameplay was similar as Ratchet & Clank style without different of weapons to use. The storyline was very short and i saw more surreal adventure from Land of Giants until inside the video game world. It was like watching surrealism movie for the last part. I gave the score 6/10. Not a bad game but still have some hiccups.
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker (Nintendo 3DS). Did the main Septentrione story and the extra Triangulum campaign.
The story in the main campaign felt weaker than in Devil Survivor 1 Overclocked, but things did improve in the Triangulum arc. The gameplay felt better here in the sequel. I don't know if that's just because I'm more familiar with the mechanics, or whether the gameplay balance was improved. But overall, it was good fun.
And I also got the Platinum trophy on Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight (PS4) . It's a fairly easy Platinum that's not too tedious to get. It's a fun game for those that like both Persona and rhythm games, though there's better rhythm games out there if you're not into Persona.
@Diamond_Dog well done Keith… I felt similarly… after around 30-40 hours or so I just thought to myself that I hope this never ends. The controls become so natural and the maps hold such amazing bases and landmarks with which to fully utilise your abilities/arsenal.
If they hadn’t kyboshed the online trophies on the PS3 version, I would plat the whole thing all over again!
As far as the PS3 plat goes, you could do everything bar the FOB trophy correct? Plus everything would be a lot more grindy to boot.
I ‘could’… but the fact it would be platless just shifts my backlog above it in order of priority tbh. Thing is, while there may be few games within my backlog that I’ll like quite as much as MGSV… I’m pretty sure that I’ll really like the vast majority of them at least… and I’m yet to play them, while I put 183 hours into MGSV already.
@Diamond_Dog it’s another level mate… just keeps getting better and better too. What are your plans as far as souls-likes go now… are you gonna go straight for Elden Ring or are you gonna start with the older ones first?
