Hi there fellow gamers.
So I finished Rachet and Clank Rift Apart last night and it was my first RC game (yes, I should had played the others). It´s a really good game, very fun, the guns are great, clearly enhanced by the DualSense wich is always good imo, visualy it´s stunning, the animatins are fantastic and the voice acting is pretty good to. But I did felt the game to be kinda short. I don´t know how big the other RC games are, so there is that. Also, some reviews mentioned how easy the game is, so I played on hard difficulty (Resistance Leader) and it was fine. Not to difficult and not easy either.
I like the map you can get in a sidequest that reveals all the collectibles on each level. Every game should have something like that.
Also the challenge mode new game plus with new weapons to unlock and the Omega versions of the previous ones, so you can continue to evolve them, is a nice touch.
I only need one more trophy left for the Platinum, so it won´t take long I guess.
Overall, I really enjoyed my time with the game and would love to see more of this franchise.
Next game is Guardians of the Galaxy. Got that and Deathloop for 35€ each on a Black Friday sale.
Cheers, stay safe everyone and happy gaming to us all

@RaZieLDaNtE If you enjoyed Rift Apart, you should definitely try the PS4 reboot game from the series.

It’s the only other Ratchet and Clank game I’ve played and they released a patch to make it run at 60fps on PS5. It’s part of the PS+ Collection so won’t cost you anything if you’re a member, and it wouldn’t cost that much at all if you’re not.

@RaZieLDaNtE Good to see you enjoyed the game. I've always enjoyed the R&C games and have played all of those available on PS Now as well as the PS4 reboot and Rift Apart.

Like @Thrillho said you should definitely try the reboot as that's a good fun game as well. There's not much difference in terms of the gameplay to Rift Apart so you should be right at home. If I remember rightly it's probably about the same length as Rift Apart as well.

@Kidfried I definitely got value for money on the reboot (even if I did buy it a week before it was free) as I got a game breaking bug about two thirds of the way through and then played two complete runs to get the platinum

Voltan

@Kidfried The one trophy I remember people disliking was to hit every type of enemy with the Groovitron. Pretty sure that included bosses and there was no way to track which ones you still needed.

Thrillho

@Kidfried @Voltan Yeah, the Groovitron one was a pain (I had a spreadsheet on my second full run to make sure I wouldn’t need another!)

You had to complete Challenge Mode, hence needing two full runs, but you also had to get every weapon to level 10 which took some grinding for the bolts to buy the omega weapons but also using them enough to level them up.

I’m kind of glad Rift Apart didn’t have those!

@Thrillho @render @Kidfried Hi there friends and thanks for the feedback. I apreciate it 👍
So these games are kinda short. Ok, now I know what to expect in the reboot and in a new one.
I actualy have the Rachet and Clank reboot installed on my PS4 when Sony gave the game way on the play at home thing and I do have access to the PS+ collection as well.
But as you guys mentioned, now we can play the game on PS5 at sweet 60fps and that does make it much more interesting.
Playing this game and realising how fun it is, made me wish that Naughty Dog would make another Jak and Daxter game. Those games were awesome.
Cheers, stay safe ya´ll and have a good one

Managed to clear my law route run of Shin Megami Tensei V around 74 hours in, although probably ten or more hours of that was just doing endgame content to unlock as many demons as possible. I think I ended up with 80% or so compendium completion, which isn't bad at all, IMO.

@RogerRoger I've already started a NG+ file on hard mode, yeah. Since I feel no pressing need to push through the game quickly now, I'll stay on hard. The NG+ mode I selected only carries over my miracles and compendium data, so it should be a decent challenge. Specific demons only become available after the alignment lock for each route, so I'd need to play it 3+ times to 100% it. I probably won't do that, but I want to eventually complete hard mode, beat the superboss, and unlock the true neutral ending.

Looking forward to fully expressing my thoughts on this game!

Just finished Guacamelee and can’t believe how satisfying the combat and navigating the environment was. I’m just a little concerned that it was so good that I might struggle to find other Metroidvanias (apart from the sequel of course) as good. That final boss fight was a doozy too.

edit. And as I got the end bosses move set down pat by the time I beat him, I picked up the Diablo suit and went and beat him with no damage straight after for The Devil Wears Revenge trophy.

@colonelkilgore Great work. Guac 2 is also a great game and just as fun as the first. This was what me and the wife went on to play when needing a new Metroidvania fix after Hollow Knight. It's difficult finding something as good as that game but these came close.

@colonelkilgore Hi there friend.
Guacamelee is a great MetroidVania tittle and so is the sequel.
I played and finished them both in my Laptop. I think the sequel is even better with all the new crazy shenanigans Drinkbox Studios made. Other great MetroidVania tittles I´ve played are:
Hollow Knight, Ori and the Blind Forest, Dust an Elysian Tail, Blasphemous, The Messenger and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
I´m playing right now Deaths Gambit Afterlife and Sundered.
I played the original version of the first, but Afterlife is like a brand new game. And it´s coming to PS4.
Well worth it.

@RaZieLDaNtE @render @Thrillho @colonelkilgore I’m really starting to question my video game intelligence quotient given how much I disliked my time with Guacamelee. Couple that with the fact I could barely make it past the first 5 hours of The Witcher 3 and I think I’m starting to get a complex. And I won’t even mention how I thought Assassin’s Creed Black Flag was the worst of the series.

Honestly, I do think I might need to try this Guacamelee game again. Clearly I wasn’t playing it correctly. 😅

Dark Souls Remastered

I played it last year and got up to Sen's Fortress before dropping it like a tonne of bricks.

I got back to playing it on the 16th of november and finished it after six days.

I barely died at all in the main game. Not a flex or anything but like when I played Demon's Souls (PS3) again back in 2019 it was just... Easy.

The Ai is just NOT there at all or complex enough after going though DS2, 3, Code Vein and so on... Most attacks from bosses are too slow as well to really do anything leaving ample time to heal with 20 estus flasks.

The only challenge I was having was trying to beat the 4 kings earlier then I should've (As I wanted to get the Kaathe ending I've never done before) and it turns out there I was just playing too defensive and staying right up close to the kings meant I barely took any damage 😕

The only other boss that killed me was The Bed Of Chaos and that was purely because of how AWFUL that boss is designed.

Tomb of The Giants gave me a bit of trouble as did the invisible paths of the crystal caves (Mainly for trying to find the secret path without any prism stones)

But otherwise... Yeah. Not really much of a challenge at all. I think I was only level 65 or something by the end too.

(This is me talking mainly as a "Souls Vet" (I wouldn't say I'm that good at these games) btw... It's not likely going to be easy ride at all if it's your first Souls experience.)

Dark Souls did not need a remaster... It NEEDED a full blown remake cus like Demon's it has NOT aged well mechanically in my opinion and everything after the lord vessel deserves the attention to be properly whipped into shape as it's just not very well designed (Except for maybr the Duke's Archives) due to the lack of time and budget it so clearly had on it's original release.

I also beat the Artorias Of The Abyss DLC for Dark Souls Remastered and I gotta say... That was disappointing playing it for the first time.

The Sanctuary Guardian was exceptionally boring and Manus... I was kinda expecting something a bit... More-ish visually. Kalameet was just a black dragon and artorias was... Artorias.

Artorias was an actual challenge. Took me about six goes but I got there eventually.

Kalameet I beat first try and Manus wasn't that tough either. The sanctuary guardian I honestly forgot about it the second it was over til I wrote this and remembered there was a 4th boss in the DLC.

The areas were pretty uninspired though. The garden is darkroot garden and everything else was really meh as well with only what... 3 new standard enemies in the dlc too?

Dark Souls 2's DLC areas EASILY have that beat hands down it's not even funny.

Honestly though aside from Fallout New Vegas' DLC packs (Not including the incredibly boring Honest Hearts) I've still yet to find a DLC add on that felt it was actually worth the money...

Ha ha at least you liked Nier Automata @Th3solution... I'm pretty sure I've got a complex for not liking that

@Th3solution Maybe my enjoyment was boosted by playing Guacamelee couch coop with the missus, but even so I think there's a lot to like here. I loved the characters and the humour, the varied enemy types, and most of all those challenging points where you have to remember what special skill to apply at exactly the right moment.

You should definitely go back for a second look 😀

Edit: And I kind of get you on Witcher 3, I liked it and did finish it but thought the best bit was playing Gwent!

@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy Heh, well ironically, Dark Souls is another one of the games I’d consider putting on the heap of “Games Universally Praised that Sol Actually Hates” but I think my issue with it years ago when I tried it was more an issue of not being a patient enough gamer and not understanding the Souls formula. That, and I think plenty of people jump off of their first Souls game after a few hours, so I’m probably not alone in that.

At least you made it nearly to the end of Nier Automata whereas those games I mentioned were all abandoned in the opening few hours.

And ditto my feeling on DLC. I rarely partake in them. Often they can feel like either — A) lesser content that was originally carved out of the game and picked up off the editing room floor or B) quickly thrown together cash-grab content assembled after the team realizes the popularity of a game means demand is high enough that any related expansion will sell. 😄

@Th3solution Obviously there are exceptions where the DLC for a game is still quite good, but I also miss the old days where DLC for at least RPGs was exceptional and was actually longer than some other games. Oblivion comes to mind as it's Shivering Isles DLC was roughly 30 hours. That was also 15 years ago, but only some modern games here and there have ever approached that since.

The Witcher 3's two expansions were supposed to be fantastic (I have sadly not played them yet, but plan on it next year finally), Assassin's Creed Odyssey's DLC was generally pretty good (especially The Fate of Atlantis), and I'm sure there's something else I'm just being too lazy to think of right now.

@Th3solution Hey there friend.
You know, sometimes, games don´t quite "click" with you. Some games take awhile to get interesting. You keep especting you´ll eventualy find the "hook" of the game and sometimes it doesn´t happen.
Same thing with movies, books, tv shows and anime.
It can be anything that either motivates or keeps you to play a certain game. Art and visual style, characters, gameplay mechanics, storyline, soundtrack.
I enjoyed my time with guacamelee 1 and 2, as well as The Witcher 3 and both dlcs.
@KilloWertz mentioned them and if you like the main game, your gonna like the dlcs.
Heart of Stone is one of the best dlc I´ve ever played and Wine and Blood gives you a completely new map with really good sidequests and a braching main story. But I´m biased. I love the world of the Witcher because of the books and I love story driven games.
Oh, I also didn´t like Assassin´s Creed Black Flag so there is that.
Give Guacamelee another try. Maybe it will "click" with you this time.
Cheers, stay safe ya´ll and have a good one
