@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy appreciated foxy, I am due to start DMC in Feb next year so I’ll be sure to tag you in my progress (or lack thereof) when I do so. I do love a challenge though!
@JohnnyShoulder I got the Origami Killer spoiled too, just after finishing the baby sequence. Totally killed my feelings about the game and I lost the motivation to play more as I had totally taken to that certain character.
@JohnnyShoulder ah that's a shame about the killer being revealed early for you, I think it was a genuine surprise for me and I am not surprised easily. It's annoying to get a spoiler on something like this because it really is an integral part of the story, I think enjoyment can come from a replay but you might not want to replay it if you didn't take that initial journey without it being spoiled.
Yeah i'm definitely going to play the other two, probably with a few different games in between though. In terms of buying the games, its probably a bit of both replaying and collecting. I would say that having played them, they are not on my priority list to purchase. It may be some years down the line when I decide to get around to buying them. There might be a couple ps3 titles like Darkstalkers Resurrection that I will buy when my sub lapses just so I don't have to worry about it getting randomly taken off the PS Store while I have an active sub and am unable to buy it.
@nessisonett@JohnnyShoulder@ralphdibny Heavy Rain is a great game, and the controls do get significantly better in Detroit (can’t speak for Beyond TS) as well as just the whole package being a lot better. The characters in it will still win you over most likely, even though they are different and the setting is completely unique.
As for the Origami Killer, I fortunately didn’t have it spoiled and it was quite a surprising gut punch to me when playing the game. It was well done, especially for the time and yes - I only played the PS3 version so I wasn’t aware the controls were even worse on the PS4 version! That’s too bad. But I do remember all the memes about having to contort your hands into these crazy awkward positions in order to hold down multiple buttons in sequence. 😂 So yeah, they cleaned most of that up for Detroit.

@Th3solution ahh I loved that guy so much, he seemed so genuine in how much he cared about all the people he visited and he was so bad ass when he shot up that mansion full of thugs! I know bits of this were partially me controlling it but he seemed like a genuine stand up guy! Who could have known that all of those actions were just part of his profile as a serial killer? It makes sense after the fact having watched so much X files and Millennium in my life, sometimes the killers do like to have a hero complex where they act all concerned and appear to help out the surviving people who suffered from their actions.
@nessisonett@ralphdibny@Th3solution I put it up there with having the end of The Six Sense spoiled to me the day before I was gonna see it at the cinema, by an enthusiastic colleague at work!
But I still enjoyed my time with the game and thought it was a well crafted tale. So much so that I kept second guessing if my memory was playing tricks with me.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

@Th3solution@TraCuz- I just beat Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and was thoroughly satisfied with the conclusion to the Nathan Drake story.
"Preoccupied with a single leaf, you won’t see the tree. Preoccupied with a single tree, you’ll miss the entire forest. Don't be preoccupied with a single spot. See everything in its entirety...effortlessly. That is what it means...to truly "see." "
@TheBrandedSwordsman Very nice man, like you said it's thoroughly satisfying. From the fight in the ship to exploring the house at the end. Incredible.
@TheBrandedSwordsman Congrats on the completion! You played through it pretty fast, so I’m glad that you liked it. Yeah, I found the ending quite satisfying as well. Although I wasn’t all that thrilled with the final boss fight with the swords and such. It seemed a little awkward as far as controls go, but the story outcome was really great and I loved seeing Nate and Elena’s daughter with the clear suggestion that she may become the new Uncharted protagonist
As for the question over on the other thread about Sam — I liked the Sam character, although I was a little skeptical about how he just shows up here at the end. Having played the other games, it’s just surprising that he’d not have come up before. I like him and he’d do fine to have more side content perhaps in the series with Sully, but I really think going forward they will focus on Cassie.

@Th3solution I agree with you, for the most part as a Dark Souls Veteran, when I saw the swords, I thought hurrah! this is a dream come true! if only you could play that part like a Souls game though, haha, and with regard to Cassie, you're probably right

@Th3solution Thanks for the congratulations, really appreciate it.

I haven’t played Control yet, but it’s definitely on the list. I was waiting to play it ok PS5 since I heard the technical performance is spotty on PS4. If you play it I’ll be curious what you think. It’s supposed to be really good.

So I have finished Persona 5 Strikers. Finished the compendium bar one persona and have not got all the skill upgrades, but I have otherwise done everything else including optional/secret bosses (or at least according to the trophy list). Took me just under 67 hours. Really good game, and wouldn't mind a mainline Persona adopting that style of gameplay. The game still had the style of Persona 5, music is fantastic. I loved the change in locals and the Jail layouts. Loved the new characters for the most part. The story was fine; there were a couple of things I expected as it progressed which ended up happening. Ichinose in particular, I suspected from the get go of having ulterior motives, just a pity that I found her reasoning for helping EMMA slightly underwhelming. Only real thing that kind of disappointed me was the lack of interaction with characters from Persona 5 outside of the main cast; for example, you find out at the beginning of the game that Iwai and Dr Takemi are both out of town. Since you are on a road trip during the summer holidays, could we not have encountered the confidants during the travels or something? I guess they wanted to make the game open to those who had never played Persona 5 before, but eh.
On a slightly related note, If they did do this playstyle again for a main title (not that I think this will ever happen), I would still like for them to do the traditional thing where you are based somewhere for a year, but not necessarily as a student at high school, but perhaps an adult team with work instead sort of thing.
As mentioned in the Game Club thread, I recently beat Concrete Genie and got the platinum too.
I really liked that they went for something different with the game and I enjoyed the painting mechanics. It took me a little while to get used to but once you've got the hang of it it feels really cool.
The game doesn't outstay it's welcome with the short play time and the story isn't too in depth but it really is a fun little game. The only thing I'd say is that the combat mechanic that comes in right at the end of the game was a bit of a faff and was mostly just button bashing to win.
I finished Hyper Light Drifter, I thought it was brilliant, really fun exploring and discovering little secrets, combat is very satisfying, difficulty is well balanced and the graphical style was a joy. Some of the trophies are a bit daft, so I opted for no plat but I did hunt down some of the more fun ones.
@Thrillho Sounds fun, looking forward to giving it a go. I don't suppose you tried it out in psvr?
@MS7000 Glad to hear it doesn't disappoint, I'm hoping to play it eventually.
So, I've completed ALMOST everything in Super Mario 3D World. Got all the golden flagpoles, collected all the star coins, collected all of the normal stamps, and have completed all of the secret levels, including Champion's Road, which claimed hours of my life and over a hundred lives by the time I was finished with it.
If I were a normal person, I'd be done. But I'm stuck on this idea of totally completing all of the 3D Mario games, and there are four more stamps locked behind completing ALL of the levels with EVERY character, so I'll have to play through the game at least four more times. Including the brutal Champion's Road. FOUR. MORE. TIMES.
lol
With that said, I think I'm done playing for hours at a time, and will just play a couple of levels here or there as I start to prepare my review of it.
