What's up with the Vita only having up to only 8 multi player when the PSP could handle as many as 16? I use to play Socom on the PSP it was a fun game online. Then they pulled the online service shortly before they released it on the Vita.

I don't think there's any hard limit, it just seems to be a developer choice.

It can't be every single PS Vita multiplayer title has had 8 players (4VS4) or less. Even Freedom Wars has that number attached to it and its has no single player (is there i don't know).
It has something to do with that party app: it can't be a coincidence that the party app number is the same number as the multiplayer titles it sticks to.
Killzone Mercenary looks too small for 4VS4. All developers can't just all think of the number 8.
