@Oram77 Healing made no sense to me. I eventually realized you had to lean on a wall. I think the second game had first aid kits on the wall which made it faster, great representation of London though. It's a kind of time capsule for the high streets, so many stores went into administration but they are still in the game. The old sky line is so different too.

I don't know if you've ever seen these facts before:

6 things you didn’t know about The Getaway

The team took over 500,000 reference images to capture London streets and locations used in the game. The large scale led to one of the team’s artists being banned from local planning offices, as he spent too much time looking at reference material.

The grooves on the back of The Getaway disc are a digital map of London. Some of the art team were chased by club bouncers whilst on a reference photoshoot around Soho.

There’s a secret first-person drive mode in the game involving Free Roam mode, a pink shop front, Charing Cross Road and a very tight time limit – can you figure it out?

The character Eyebrows was played by Paul ‘Fish’ Burfoot, who has a successful hair product company based in London’s Soho neighbourhood. Other actors in the game went on to star in both Hollywood and Bollywood movies.

The Getaway was the 100,000,000th disc to go through Sony’s DADC (Digital Audio Disc Corporation) supply chain – a big milestone for the company.

Hmmm just SSX3 for me, I don’t think I have a desire for any others now. Dead Space 2, maybe, but a new one would be better

@kyleforrester87 My heart bleeds because I don't think we will ever get a Dead Sapce 2 remake (which is one of my favourite games ever) because the sales for the first were not great.... which blows my mind as it's one the best remakes to this day.

@kyleforrester87 Oh, right, yeah, those were pretty good. Not altogether hopeless, then
SSX3, that was a great entry! Would love to see that one remade (wouldn't mind SSX Tricky either).

@GirlVersusGame @Ravix I'll second both Alpha Protocol and The Saboteur. More the latter, as I can still easily play AP from my Steam account, but The Saboteur is lost to me forever

@Ravix Human Revolution was an excellent game, but felt very different from the original, not just because of the leaps in tech between them, but they play quite differently. Deus Ex - Invisible War wasn't as bad as everyone said, but it couldn't hold a candle to the original... nowhere near the depth to the storytelling

@Oram77 yeah DS1 remake was really good. Fortunately, the original DS2 still plays really good and there is probably less to improve compared to the first one.

Actually being able to play it is a bit of a problem if you only have a PS4/5 though.

@FuriousMachine They 'll never take my copy from me, or the (un-used) DLC that makes people topless and rewards private dances. That really was a thing. I guess they censored some of the game upon release, and the DLC adds it back in.

Chase the Express is another PS1 game I forgot about until I started going through boxes. It was like Resident Evil meets Under Siege 2. It also goes by the name Nuclear Dawn. I'm pretty sure I had a Japanese copy somewhere too, I really liked that game. And I really liked Under Siege 2 even-though it's terrible.

@GirlVersusGame Yeah, I had that same DLC with my X360 copy... now, if I can get my hands on a working x360 I may be able to play it again... my physical copy should be in storage somewhere....

@Hapless Tenchu is an unbelievably great shout! I suppose Sekiro will have scratch that certain itch. My favourite Silent hill game is 3, and I happy in the knowledge that if they are remaking 1 then surely 3 will follow that since the stories go hand in hand. I surprised that Konami haven't done a MGS style master collection, I think they would sell like hot cakes, since SH has popped off recently!

For the obvious choice, I’ll go with Resistance: Fall of Man. I’d prefer a full remake makeover that keeps the game mostly intact with maybe just some updates where needed, such as was done with Dead Space, Demon’s Souls, Silent Hill 2, or Gears of War. A full Resistance trilogy remaster has been requested for a long time, but at this point I think just a nice complete remake of the first game and see where it goes. I played through a portion of Resistance and really liked it but I got distracted and my FPS skills are just not very good so I think I fell off for that reason also. But I always liked the lore and alt-history Sci-Fi setting. Would like to try it again.

Dragon Age: Origins is another I’d like to see a remake/remaster treatment for. It also that fits that same situation for me— a game i played a few hours of and then dropped, mainly because i just didn’t really understand the game and was a much less patient gamer back then, and a game like Resistance that is also trapped on PS3.

Others trapped on PS3 (at least in the PlayStation ecosystem) that I’d like an opportunity to play have been mentioned, like The Saboteur, and Puppeteer. Another we’ve mentioned here before would be GTA4. I think it sounds like the one I’d need to play if there were ever any hope of me getting into that series.

I would like also a remastered collection of Portal and Portal 2. I never got to play the original Portal and I really loved Portal 2. It’s about time for a replay of that and why not have it with the first game and with a shiny new coat of paint.

Now here are some I’d like a remake more as done in the style of FF7 Remake or even like the RE2 remake, where it feels like a new game merely based on core elements of the original—

Knights of the Old Republic (in the works still?), as mentioned by the Colonel
Vagrant Story
FF6
Chrono Trigger

These games are old enough that I think they might benefit from a full redo from the ground up with everything modernized. I tried KOTOR a couple years ago and couldn’t get past the dated presentation and gameplay. There’s a good game deep down in there though. Vagrant Story was one I played back on PS1 and really was enjoying, but for some reason never finished and it got swept under the rug and now all these years later I’d never go back and play the original, but would welcome a nice fully modernized and updated remake. Then for FF6 and Chrono Trigger, they are just games I missed and were before my time but I’ve heard so much about that I want to experience (but not necessarily in their original retro form)

I'm not surprised seeing Resistance being brought up, it feels like a life time a go, playing it when it first released but yes it does deserve at least a remaster. I was looking though my trophy list the other day and stumbled upon Portal 2 and I was "Oh yeah I can't play this anymore...." as I stupidly let my ex at the time keep my PS3 🫠

@Hapless Yeah I did read that, can't remember why they switched it though. You're right it's not the same but you can definitely see Tenchu DNA in Sekiro.

@Oram77 Portal 2 is actually quite cheap on Steam, if you have access to a PC that can run it (shouldn't have too steep requirements, I think). It has full PS controller support and still looks quite good, in my opinion.
Don't feel like either that or the OG Portal need full remakes; they could get away with minor tweaks and a release on PS4/PS5.

@FuriousMachine I have been on the fence about getting a PC for a while now, If you have any good sites feel free to suggest them! I suppose there is a fine line between what should be remastered/remade or just needs a simple port (which is rarity these days).

Urban Chaos is another one that could do well as a remaster. It was kind of like GTA but from a cop's perspective. The same Devs made The Punisher on PS2, which was really good and faithful to the character. They didn't tone down the violence at all, just mask it behind monochrome.

@Oram77 Hmm... I'm not really paying much attention to the PC hardware market these days. Here in Norway we have a company that put together gaming rigs for mid to high-end needs and I bought a ridiculously expensive gaming rig from them early last year. Specced it so it would serve me for the next 5-10 years (which is when I'll be finished paying for it ).
Portal 2 should run well on even low-spec PC's/laptops these days, though. Maybe a SteamDeck, as well? Not sure, but might be worth looking into. Of course, before going that route, you should make sure there are plenty of other SteamDeck compatible games you want to play, otherwise that will be one expensive copy of Portal 2

It would be most of the PS3 Sony exclusives which are stranded on that system and yet to be remastered or be remaked. So the Resistance and Killzone games, Metal Gear Solid 4.

Top of the list though, which is not an exclusive but I totally missed it when I had a 360 is Batman Arkham Origins. WB remastered the other Arkham games but not his one. And the dev stuidio that made is now defunct I believe, so chances are slim.

Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.

Been thinking about this game some more.

Honestly I'm up for it, because I really think PE deserves a remake, and yet SE refuses to acknowledge this franchise even exists, after the (imo) truly awful 3rd birthday, so while the new game may come across as a plagiarist's wet dream, I will give this an exception.

@Oram77 Yeah, that article had me thinking nostalgically about PE and it’s one I would want to include on my list. I’m not sure the knockoff game they highlighted is going to be good or not. What I’d really like is for Capcom to do a remake along the lines of what they did with Resident Evil 2 & 3 where they could take the game into a true modern gameplay sphere without changing the core personality and character of the original. It would be a little more challenging because of the way the combat is in the original with the active time battle type of system, but I think it could be done.
