Both seasons of The Mandalorian are so good. Personally, I like the series more than any of the past Star Wars movies. Din Djarin is now one of my most favourite characters in Star Wars universe along with Han Solo, Obi Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and Qui Gon Jinn.
@LN78 Haha, I don't know much about Star Wars stuff to be honest. I think I'm more of a casual viewer when it comes to the franchise. I just watch them for entertainment. I am however looking forward to Obi Wan Kenobi, though.
Finished Colin Baker’s run of Doctor Who and I’m rather ashamed to say that I enjoyed a lot of it. I mean, most of it is obviously terrible but it’s kinda so bad it’s good? The bafflingly violent stories totally clash with the hammy performances but it works. Peri, despite her weird fake American accent, is honestly a decent companion and stands up to the Doctor more than I’d heard before I watched it. His first series is absolutely better than the messy and confusing Trial of a Time Lord though. That series was just a mess and I can’t say Bonnie Langford is particularly enjoyable to watch as the screechy Mel.
Highlights of Colin Baker’s run, if anyone’s interested in a taste of cheese and ham, are Vengeance on Varos and The Two Doctors. Although The Two Doctors has some issues with Troughton’s portrayal, he’s weirdly horrible towards Jamie being Scottish which was never a problem in the 60s and tells him he has a ‘mongrel accent’. Was not amused by that but doesn’t surprise me coming from Eric ‘Macho Man’ Saward, his stories are filled with nonsense.
@LN78 Yeah, considering its great reputation, I wasn’t expecting it to be quite as uncomfortable as it was. There were a few moments where I could see great creativity and some interesting characters but it’s hard to get past the really racist stuff.
Watched that new adaptation of Why Didn’t They Ask Evans by Hugh Laurie. Thought it was seriously great, a cracking and twisty tale with plenty of humour and two charming leads. Love myself a bit of Agatha Christie and this is the best I’ve seen since the ITV Poirot and Marple shows ended.
The new Doctor Who wasn’t that bad actually, not the most interesting episode but a bit of a classic style lark. But the trailer for her last episode!!! Tegan and Ace coming back! So glad I binged Classic Who, I love those two characters and I can’t believe they’re actually back.
Been watching a bit of Apple TV lately and fair play they’re really upping their output. While the latest season of Servant didn’t satisfy the curiosity that it’s first two seasons built (not sure that the show actually knows where it’s going, which is a real shame as season 1 in particular was outstanding)… The Morning Show is excellent and Severance is also very interesting.
Once we’ve finished Severance the trailer for Pachinko has shot that straight to the top of what’s next on our viewing list. I always considered Apple TV as the streaming service with the least content but that seems to have changed recently and we’re using this far more that Disney+ and Amazon Prime… it’ll have to go some to catch up with Netflix though in fairness.
@nessisonett I half watched part of the episode but it says a lot that people spent more time discussing the trailer for the next episode rather than the one they just watched!
@LN78 I sub to BritBox for Classic Who but there’s a ton of great content on there. Make sure you watch the new Agatha Christie that just dropped, it’s brilliant.
@nessisonett@LN78 Is that the one directed by Hugh Laurie? He just did a brilliant interview on BBC. My interest has immediately been peaked knowing his involvement in it.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@render@Fragile So as not to derail the other thread too much, I was more of an A-Team kid. I was also partial so some Terrahawks for something a bit different. Which has aged horribly. 😂

I used to be seriously into that, so much so that I actually had a toy Zero. It was frikin cool. It had a stand and you could do something like wind it up and then push this button and it would pop off and wibble away. It really has not aged well as a TV program though, I mean I would not show that to my kids through fear of giving them nightmares 😅
@JohnnyShoulder I’ve been known to use the catchphrase “I love it when a plan comes together” amongst friends and it usually gets a blank stare in return.
But that theme song is pretty iconic, even if most people don’t know where it comes from.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
Finished up American Crime Story: Impeachment recently, and thought it was fantastic.
Dramatization of the events leading up to & surrounding the Clinton impeachment scandal, and other than a bit of a mustache twirling vibe in terms of it's depictions of some of the conservative journalists of the time, I thought it did an impeccable job giving a nuanced, humanizing look at all parties involved.
