@BearsEatBeets Pretty sure it was supposed to be this year, as Cameron confirmed he had finished his work on it months ago.

@LN78 I'm not personally bothered about True Lies but extremely pleased that Aliens is finally coming out. I take it no specific dates just yet though.

Spider-Man Across the Spider-verse. Absolutely fantastic. Makes other superhero films seem lame in comparison, especially the more recent live action fare.

The Marvels. Not good. Not even really sure why I watched it. Also not the worst I’ve seen though, heaps better than that Ant-Man movie and a few of the things after Endgame. Does feel like they’re on their last legs though, Marvel movies are slowly sort of dying away but they have enough money to keep it going like a slowly decaying corpse.

@LN78 Yay! That is brilliant news; been pining for "Aliens" and "Abyss" on 4K for quite some time now. I'll probably pick up "True Lies" as well, but upon watching it again a couple of years ago, I realized that I didn't like it as much as I used to.

Agree with your assessment of "The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3" also, but I have a blind spot when it comes to Tony Scott; there are very few of his films I didn't like. "True Romance" is probably one of my favourite films, in spite of it being basically a cameo-fest

@LN78 Love the Tarantino commentary track that was on the original DVD release (and, I assume, on the recent Blu/4K releases). The man goes off on so many tangents but, somehow, always manages to find his way back to his original thought.

@LN78 I vaguely remember hearing about Aliens and True Lies around the same time Cameron talked about The Abyss, but was from a less reliable source, so wasn't sure of repeating it here.

That is great news though. Fingers crossed they are more like the quality of Alien (a pre-Disney Fox 4K release) rather than the balls up I hear of Terminator 2.

Just started watching Jackie Brown. A sort of homage by Tarantino, to Pam Grier, apparently..

@LN78 Yeah I heard that too. What about you? Seen anything good lately?

@LN78 Oh sorry about that I don't really check old posts so much! haha. But, yeah, I will watch that movie, I have it but haven't watched it yet. I hear the [adult swim] animated series is really good too.

Just finished watching John Wick: Chapter 4.

Best soundtrack of all the four movies.

Best ending of all the four movies.

Best boys of all the four movies.

It was honestly the perfect ending to John Wick's story. I'm split though whether I think this was the best movie of the four or not because there weren't enough impressive combat scenes like in previous movies. But that honestly doesn't matter because all four movies were phenomenal. This is hands down my favourite movie franchise of all time.

High praise, indeed!
I’ve only watched the first so I definitely need to get to the others.

Because it showed up prominently on my PS5 home page, I watched the trailer for Madame Web.

I hadn’t heard anything about this so at first I thought it might be a parody or some kind of joke to push awareness of the new Spider-Man game. Apparently this is really a movie?! It looks pretty questionable. The whole spider theme, knock-off looking villain, and cheesy dialogue is giving vibes like it’s an off-brand copycat of the MCU. I was surprised to see it’s an actual Sony production Marvel movie…? I hate to pass judgement yet, but so far it seems weird.

@Th3solution I read your thoughts about the first movie and it seems you liked it so you'll most likely enjoy the others as well. They're just so satisfying to watch, I'd love to play a video game that plays like these movies. The closest would be Hotline Miami, which is funny because in Chapter 4, they actually show a scene through a top-down perspective, making it look like Hotline Miami.

@Th3solution They talk about the trailer on this week's episode of Sacred Symbols, and it does not sound great.

It doesn't make much difference to me, as I've tapped out of the majority of super hero films now. I've got Guardians of the Galaxy 3 at home to watch, and that will most likely be it until the sequel to The Batman is out or the third Spider-verse film.

@JohnnyShoulder Ah, I’m a few weeks behind with SS. I can only imagine how the trailer went over with them. šŸ˜…

On the plus side, at least Madame Web is a new IP, I guess. I have no idea if there are actual comic books with her or not. But from a cinematic standpoint, it is a fresh superhero story so I’ll give it that.

But a lot of us are getting burned out with the genre. I’ve tried to keep up with the major MCU movies when they drop to Disney+ (GotG 3 is actually really good) but have essentially stopped going to the theater for them. And I’m really behind on the DCU. Haven’t watched the Flash movie, Black Adam, and I just noticed the Blue Beetle movie unceremoniously also dropped to streaming, so I do want to try those at some point.

JohnnyShoulder

@Th3solution Madame Web certainly has appeared in comics before, and I recall seeing her in one of the animated series when I was younger.

Black Adam wasn't awful, but it felt like something from about 10 years ago. That was probably the last thing insaw from that side. I've actually enjoyed some of the animated films from DC more than the live action stuff.

Watched Thor Love & Thunder. And also Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Both very entertaining. Decided to pay for Disney for one month so those were some obvious films to watch that we hadn't had time to see at the cinema. Cool last film for the GotG.
