@Thrillho Watching the Cricket? What are your thoughts about today's play?

@TheBrandedSwordsman That was pretty poor showing from England. Naturally being north of the border, I automatically support whoever’s playing England 😉
@nessisonett It's the difficulty of the conditions!

@TheBrandedSwordsman I didn't really see much before lunch so missed a fair bit!
It sounds like it's a mixture of weird conditions on a substandard pitch with a ball that is doing unexpected things. Being able to play spin seems quite handy and sadly England don't seem to be able to!
A test being over within five sessions is pretty terrible though.
@Thrillho Root took his first fifth wicket in a test, though.

@TheBrandedSwordsman@Thrillho@nessisonett I just can’t wrap my head around cricket. There’s a lot of sports that I don’t quite understand like Equestrian and Rugby, but Cricket has got to be the most confusing and inexplicable to me.

@Th3solution How are you mate? What do you do when you're not gaming? Are you working or studying? As what or in what?

@Th3solution With regard to Cricket, it takes a while to fully understand, but once you do, your patience will be thoroughly rewarded. There's a lot to love about the game.

@TheBrandedSwordsman Doing good. I keep myself busy working, trying to claw my way up the ladder of success. Doing deskwork for a company and some basic admin, nothing special. When I’m not gaming I’m often watching TV lately — I’m into a couple Netflix shows I’m working through. I have a friend who always wants to watch sports with me so I get pulled into some NBA, NFL, and UFC. I also have stuttered with an exercise program; started a walk/jog regimen a week or two ago that has not been well sustained. I used to do creative writing, but that has also been on hiatus. I feel like my creative juices haven’t really flowed as well as they should. It’s partly why I like posting on PushSquare — it let’s me keep some of my written communication skills from dulling too much. How about you?

@Th3solution I've never been able to enjoy cricket either mate... and I played it at school. Rugby and MMA are the only sports in my household... and they are more than enough for the extra scraps of time I don't already have allocated to work, gaming, the missus, and TV/Film.
@Th3solution Much like you I have dabbled in Creative Writing. I have a degree in Eng Lit & Creative Writing which I obtained about 10 years ago, in the mean time I have held down various mostly admin-related jobs (as well) but now applying for a Graduate Management Scheme once everything's open again, also I play the guitar as I think I've mentioned before on here and like to read and watch the Cricket in addition to that. It must surely make it harder to write without reading? I recommend hitting the books if you ever get a chance to pull yourself away from TV/Film and Sports Center!

@TheBrandedSwordsman You’re absolutely correct, I think reading enhances the writing abilities. I used to read more, so maybe one day I’ll get back into it.

@Th3solution What sort of stuff would you read if you decided to get back into it? What sort of stuff were you reading before? LotR and other fantasy stuff?

@Kidfried I've started to avoid commentating on a lot of stories too much. Had a few positive interactions, and I'll occasionally state an opinion here or there but you are right, it descends into simplification and overall bias.
For example, the £70 game debate. For me, it's too high, which I added as a comment but some of the comments make it sound like Sony are literally selling babies online.
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
@Kidfried@Rudy_Manchego It really is getting ridiculous. The way some are commenting, I sometimes have to read the article again to see if I missed anything.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

@Kidfried There definitely seems to be a lot more randoms who joined in the last few days commenting in bulk using rather exaggerated language. This site probably won’t end up like NLife but I do worry that any actual discussion about these issues will be drowned out by people not willing to debate and instead just spam.
